Lomas de Tzununa is in an absolutely stunning location on Lake Atitlan near the village of Tzununa as opposed to Santa Cruz La Laguna suggested on this site. The rooms are clean, bright and airy all with lake views although the beds are on the hard side. We stayed for four nights and by the end of our stay were beginning to tire of the menu in the good restaurant. If you are staying here there are no alternatives nearby. Although the menu does cover a good range of meals and prices we did feel that maybe a typical "meal of the day" might add a bit more variety. Continental breakfast included in the room is very basic and for my "full american" I got a small portion of scrambled eggs, four small very crisp bacon slices and two small slices of watermelon extra.
Access is from the hotel dock via 400 plus steps. Not for the faint of heart but if you are up for it well worth the effort. You can also walk from the public dock at Tzununa, same elevation gain, much longer path. It would be nice if the hotel could run some sort of shuttle arrangement here.
Maria will help with any guests' plans and it was a pity that we did not get to realise this at first as we had an aborted attempt to get to the market at Chichestenango on the third day of our stay.
All in all though a wonderful place to stay and relax with the occassional foray on to the lake visiting the villages.
