“Must be the best lake view.”

Lomas de Tzununa is in an absolutely stunning location on Lake Atitlan near the village of Tzununa as opposed to Santa Cruz La Laguna suggested on this site. The rooms are clean, bright and airy all with lake views although the beds are on the hard side. We stayed for four nights and by the end of our stay were beginning to tire of the menu in the good restaurant. If you are staying here there are no alternatives nearby. Although the menu does cover a good range of meals and prices we did feel that maybe a typical "meal of the day" might add a bit more variety. Continental breakfast included in the room is very basic and for my "full american" I got a small portion of scrambled eggs, four small very crisp bacon slices and two small slices of watermelon extra.
Access is from the hotel dock via 400 plus steps. Not for the faint of heart but if you are up for it well worth the effort. You can also walk from the public dock at Tzununa, same elevation gain, much longer path. It would be nice if the hotel could run some sort of shuttle arrangement here.
Maria will help with any guests' plans and it was a pity that we did not get to realise this at first as we had an aborted attempt to get to the market at Chichestenango on the third day of our stay.
All in all though a wonderful place to stay and relax with the occassional foray on to the lake visiting the villages.

“Gorgeous view from every room.”

Cozy little hotel with gorgeous view of Lake Atitlan from every room. In September my boyfriend and I were the only guests at this hotel. We had the whole place to ourselves. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Enjoyed an afternoon by the pool, took a ferry to San Pedro for dinner, and kayaked and swam in the lake next morning. While in the room, we just sat and stared out the balcony. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Escape from the touristy bustle of Panajachel to this gem of a hotel.

“Wonderful stay”

Lomas de Tzununa

If you want a few days relaxing in fabulous scenery with wonderful food then this is for you.

Its quiet and relaxing in the extreme. Rooms are lovely, all with lovely views from their balconies. There is a nice pool (although we were so relaxed we couldn't even be bothered to swim!).

The food was of excellent quality. I highly recommened both the black bass in herb sauce and the homemade ravioli. We also very much enjoyed the typical Guatemalan breakfast.

We didn't realise there were lots of steps to the hotel from the hotel boat dock area. Thierry was very good about collecting us from a differfent dock where we could be transported by car to the hotel. I am not so mobile so this helped me a lot.

There is a wonderful balcony area from the restuarant where you can enjoy the fabulous views. Underneath the balcony is a nice shady comfy area with a sofa and book area. We whiled away some hours here enjoying the peace.

In the evening Thierry would play some guitar. It was all very serene and pleasant. We were extremely sad to leave here and would have been very happy to have had a longer stay.

“Just Perfect”

Lomas de Tzununa

We spent two beautiful days at this hotel. We were just arriving in Guatemala from New York and were a bit worried about organizing things, making sure all would happen smoothly, etc ... The owners were really helpful with the organization of the trip, e-mails were promptly answere and they organized airport transfers, the boat transfer to the hotel and gave us recommendations to enjoy the Atitlan area and other places in Guatemala. They were very helpful, very friendly, the place is in one of the most stunning locations in the world, the rooms are spotless, the place is so quiet it was like a dream.

At their restaurant, the food is simple but very well cooked, the service is very attentive, they have some very good, decently priced wines... Of course you have to climb those long stairs from the lake to the hotel, but that's what makes the experience even more stunning.

Definitely go to Lomas de Tzununa, it is an unforgettable experience.

“What a fantastic view!”

Lomas de Tzununa

This is a fabulous small hotel. The room are clean and comfortable, the food is good and there is a good range to suit most people. The view is amazing. There is a climb of over 400 steps to the hotel, but the porters carried both my bags on the first day and they are happy to pick you up from the jetty at the nearby village if you cannot manage it.
