This our second stay at this hotel, the previous one about six years ago. If you want the ultimate no-hassle stay in Eureka Springs, the Basin Hotel is where to be.
I'm particularly writing to endorse Room 102, or "The Balcony Suite". The balcony overlooking Basin Park makes this room the best in Eureka Springs. There's nothing like having that space to your self, but in the middle of all the action: perfect for people-watching. The room's tasteful decor makes it a rarity in this town. The two person tub and two person shower are bonuses, and it's the easiest room in the house to get to from the lobby.
The hotel is historic, meaning it has charm, but it has rough spots due to age: thin walls/ceilings, imperfect refurbishing, etc. These are fairly insignificant issues. I'd rather stay in a somewhat flawed space with history and character than a flawless room that's like all the others.
The only real flaw with the room is the sink area. The counter is slightly higher than standard counter height, to allow for the fridge and microwave to fit underneath. My tall wife liked it, but with the modern, above-the-counter bowl sink, the overall height of the sink was awkward.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Valet was timely. Maid service left new towels on our door daily despite us keeping our "do not disturb" sign up for the duration.
