“One of the worst Marriott's Ever”

Marriott San Francisco Airport

Aug 31, 2005

My husband and I are platinum Marriott Members which means we stay in excess of 75 room nights a year at Marriott Hotels and this is, without question, the worst hotel in the chain. The first room they checked us into was next to an ice machine, and had not yet been cleaned. The next room was clean but tiny. Two people couldn't walk past each other at the same time....and we are both petite people. The mattress had a hole in the middle which one of us invaribly fell into at night. The lighting was poor and the carpet dirty. The a/c was loud and the room smelled musty.

As for the airport shuttle, it showed up 20 minutes late and there were so many people that waiting that not every could fit on -- at 5:25 am! The driver was supposed to go by the Hyatt as well but the bellstaff demanded he go straight to the airport. He still tried to go to the Hyatt but one guest on-board walked up to the driver and asked if he was going to strap people to the hood because there wasn't even standing room available. Others onboard said that the shuttle FROM the airport had either bypassed them or shut the door in their face. So don't count on the free shuttle as transportation to SFO.

The room service food was delivered cold. The Concierge lounge was out of food during happy hour (supposedly 5 - 7) by 6 and put out one dessert offering at 7:30. One cake for a roomful of people. Very nice touch.

All in all a miserable experience.

“WOW! So bad I don't know where to begin!”

ON a trip to SF we went through Priceline and got a room at this Marriott at an incredible price! Should have been my first HMMMMM. We were unfortunate to go to the Marriott when the (what seemed to be) entire IRISH FOOTBALL world championship teams were there. HUNDREDS of spoiled, uncontrolled kids everywhere! They forced the pool to be closed, ruined a conference room, were running through the restaurant, running up and down the halls ALL NIGHT. Not that the kids being there were Marriott's fault... the fact that nothing was being done to control these children WAS! Why they were not kicked out of this hotel was beyond me. You can't even imagine how bad it was!!! AND they make you pay for SELF parking on THEIR PRIVATE LOT! Very sad how bad this was!

Stayed one night before a meeting started the next day. Just a hotel - not much to say. it was fine, I felt safe. One Bonus: as a Silver Marriott Rewards member, I received a free in-room movie. A couple restaurants in hotel - didn't look like much was a around except other hotels - I didn't see any restaurants within walking distance. Free shuttle from airport to hotel.

We stayed only 1 nite on 6 July, but we're really happy with the room (big, clean and nice bay view). We arrived at the hotel after 10 pm, the staff was very nice and helpful, she gave the nice room (even we got very special rates from priceline).

“The Perfect Place to Stay!”

We stayed here July 7-11, 2005 during our religious convention. It was a delightful stay. The staff treated us like royalty, responding to our needs immediately. Our room (with a window nearly the size of the wall) faced the bay. We enjoyed watching as planes touched down and departed from San Francisco International Airport. It was particularly impressive at night! The noise wasn't at all bothersome.
The room was bright, large, and extremely comfortable. There was a desk, a large closet (with mirrored doors), a TV, a hair dryer, a clock radio, an iron and ironing board, a coffeemaker with coffee, creamer, sugar and sugar substitute (we ran out of the above and they brought more right away), a newspaper delivered daily, toiletries, and lots of big, soft, towels. The bed, with its rich bedding, was very much appreciated.
There were complimentary apples in the lobby and in the gym/swimming pool/Jacuzi areas. They even had extra towels available.
On our last day, we received a printout of the charges and were able to check-out by following the directions on the TV! This was so convenient.
I would highly recommend staying here.
