“Lovely Country Charm”

Christopher's Inn

Mar 1, 2008

Lovely, relaxing stay in the wine country. We loved our experience at Christopher's Inn. The bed's were so comfortable that we didn't want to get up in the morning! A breakfast basket was delivered each morning with delicious pasteries and fruit. The ham and cheese ones were scrumptious! There was plenty of food and we kept some of the unfinished pasteries for a later snack. The decor is old Victorian full of antiques. We appreciated the comfortable, stress free surroundings. The owner's appreciation of fine art and antiques was evident by the decorating style of the rooms. The host and hostess were very friendly and advised us as to things to do in the area, They even supplied us with restaurant vouchers to use if we liked. The Culinary Institute of America is a must for a meal. The creme brulee is the best I have ever eaten. Also a real Castle down the road is a magnificent place for wine tasting. I would definitely recommend Christopher's Inn ........ in fact we are planning a return trip this summer.

“Lovely Winter Holiday”

Christopher's Inn

LOVE THIS PLACE
We had a wonderful vacation at Christopher's Inn. This is our 5th time staying at this lovely Inn. The bed's were so comfortable that my daughter's did not want to get out of bed! The basket of breakfast brought to our door each morning was delicious and certainly plenty. Those ham and cheese pasteries were devine. My daughters would take turns going to the lobby each morning to bring me back a steaming hot latte that they freshly brewed from a machine that was there. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful and they have always offered us coupons for restaurants in the area.
WE LOVE THIS PLACE and will be back again in the summer.

“Great place to stay in Calistoga”

Christopher's Inn

4 of 5 stars
San Francisco
Jan 16, 2008

I have had the opportunity to visit the Napa Valley many times over the last six months and have stayed several times at Christopher’s Inn in Calistoga. The location is very convenient—walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in town, and 5-10 minutes’ drive to numerous wineries. There’s a great spa across the street, and they provide massages at Christopher’s Inn. I have stayed in a couple of the older smaller rooms and in three of the luxury rooms. I found all to be quite comfortable, with luxurious feather beds in all the rooms (I noticed an earlier review on this site mentioned a bed that looked lumpy—that’s what happens sometimes with feathers!). A couple of the older rooms look a bit dated, and are pretty small if you have a lot of luggage, but they were clean and otherwise comfortable. Obviously I prefer the luxury rooms, and if you are going to the Valley for a special event, you won’t be disappointed if you choose one—the huge Jacuzzi tubs and the fireplaces are worth it, even if you don’t like the amazing antique furnishings. The rooms included discounts at local restaurants and wineries, which helped offset the high rates on the luxury rooms. The complimentary breakfast basket they offer was more than adequate for me and my husband, but we’re not the huge-platter-of-ham-and-eggs types in the morning. It included coffee, juice, warm scones, fruit, yogurt, granola, sometimes a cobbler. We will definitely be back in the spring when their grounds are in full flower.

“Stay away from Christopher's Inn.”

Christopher's Inn

Granite Bay, CA

Stay away from the cottages at Christopher's Inn. The rooms are dirty (dust clumps on the floor, cobwebs galore, dust on table tops). The bathroom is dark and difficult to use (no towel rack, no table top for toiletry items). The furniture in the cottages is, for the most part, what I consider "yard-sale-find" condition. For a B&B, the breakfast is laughable—certainly inadequate for the four of us. We had to go out and buy additional food at a nearby bakery so that we wouldn't be hungry. I wish I had visited this website before we even considered making reservations! After two nights enduring the condition of the room, the noisy, paltry heating system, and the meager breakfasts, we decided to cancel our third night and find somewhere else more pleasant and possibly less expensive. In making our departure plans and unhappiness known to the innkeeper and his wife, we encountered rude, uncooperative behavior. Perhaps if the price had been less, our expectations would have been lower, but the price was inappropriately high for what was offered.

    • Disliked — The room conditions were inappropriate for the price and quality usually found in the Napa area.

These couples were certainly unhappy and unfortunately NOTHING we could say or do could save the day. Unfortunately they did not wish to honor their Sunday night stay. When we indicated it was non-cancellable, that's when the unhappiness began. We have been in business for 17 years, and people have always enjoyed the cottages. They are three very large rooms with a living room, two bedrooms and a full bathroom with an old-fashioned clawfoot tub. Some people love them, others hate them. These people hated everything about the tub, as well as the antique wall-mounted towel holder. The breakfast for the first day is always yogurt, fresh fruit, granola, muffins, croissants, juice and coffee or tea. These people wanted bacon and eggs, which we always tell guests we do not serve. The heating system has always worked very well, and heat in all rooms are set by the guests themselves. Our maids work extremely hard to keep all the rooms tidy. If there was so much dust and dirt, I wish they had mentioned it before they insisted on leaving early. I am not certain who these guests spoke to as the innkeeper and his wife are never here on weekends. Hopefully next time they will have a name. These guests also complained about the price of the rooms. The cottages are the most reasonable rooms in the entire facility renting out for approximately $l60 per night per couple. We did offer these guests complimentary espresso in our beautiful lobby, but they declined any social gathering of any kind. Long will we remember these guests!

“Dirty Dingy Room”

Christopher's Inn

Oct 26, 2007

When I found the place I thought OH NO! bad location, right on the highway. As I entered the room I new I had made a BIG mistake. The room is tiny, date and dirty. The bedskirt actually looks brown where it touches the floor. Breakfast in the the room may sound appealing, not when it is delivered with a loud knoch at 8am. Again, a ride awakening! bathroom is seriously dated as is the decor to room. as another reviewer noted, the TV looks like it was purchased in 1980. Website PHOTOS are MISLEADING. DO NOT STAY HERE....

I am the Manager responsible for the rooms. We do have one room with a brown bedskirt . All bed linens are laundered on a regular basis. If the guest had called management we certainly would have changed her room to a color that suited her more. Rather than letting us know she had a problem with the color of the bedskirt, the option was to put a nasty comment on Tripadvisor. Some people prefer to complain rather than correct. -- and we do instantly respond to all of our guests requests. Unfortunately when there is silence, we have no knowledge. Many guests tell us there should be more photos as the place is so beautiful. I do wish this guest had spoken up!
