We usually like this restaurant, we have returned 5 times in the last few months since we discovered it. The atmosphere is good with live jazz most weekends/holidays, eclectic menu, food is of a high standard if a bit pricey, nice wine selection, easy parking, easier to go to than LA centre on a weekend from the Valley. You can drop in for a pizza on the way back from factory shopping or go for a more romantic dinner date lounging in one of the stripey booths at the back of the restaurant. Generally a great place to visit with friends, family or a date.
Only hiccup we have had so far is when we made a New Years Eve booking two weeks prior to the day. When we made the booking we asked whether there was a special NY Eve menu or pricing and were informed it would be a normal menu with added specials as usual. No problems so far, and our NY Eve booking for 3 at 8pm was confirmed verbally then and there.
When we turned up on NY Eve we were rudely told we had no booking. The waitress at the front desk then rudely dismissed us and went onto the next guest! After 10 minutes arguing we managed to get the promise of a table at some point......not a great start to NY Eve. After another 10 minutes at the bar wondering whether we would get a meal on NY Eve the manager approached us, said he had a table and apologized for the wait. The booking had been made but it had been written down by his staff for the day we called not NY Eve. Bit sad since we had questioned the NY Eve menu when we made the booking and the actual date had been verbally confirmed to us over the phone. If you make a booking for this restaurant you need to ring back again at a later date and reconfirm as the young girls on the front desk don't seem to be able to use a calendar.
We will return, but reconfirm our bookings beforehand. We're scouting out a new favourite restaurant in the area now. Camarillo/Ventura area has a lot of good restaurants with new ones opening every day.
