Tried to book during Thanksgiving week, but the direct website said there was a 2 night minimum. I booked a single night through Expedia or Orbitz without a problem.
There are lots of hotels/motels on this stretch of beach in Cambria. It is very beautiful here, so it's no wonder. I did not find the area to be overcrowded, although it could be in the summertime.
The Little Sur Inn was a delightful place. There was a light afternoon snack and a continental style breakfast in the morning. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were slightly larger than a normal hotel room.
If you are into exercise, there is a great boardwalk right out the door that goes for about a mile along the coast. Lots of folks running and walking out there.
My only advice is to make sure you book a room in the "upstairs" section. There are about 5 rooms downstairs, and the noise from above can be disturbing. Also, the window of these rooms look right out at parking lot level.
The town of Cambria seems to be very quaint. I can imaging this is what Carmel must have been like before turning into a tourist trap. I wish we had more time to walk around this charming town and try out some of the restaurants.
