I SUFFER through Tom Giblins because my husband loves Irish Music. First of all, do NOT go with friends. It is IMPOSSIBLE to converse. The acoustics are terrible and they BLAST the music. The cigarette smoke from the outside patio & behind the band wafts in & poisons us all.

Second, the food is totally mediocre and every single time we have been (about 10 times) we get a totally disnterested waitress.This translates into flagging her down to get refills etc. The ONLY thing that we have found on the menu that is very good is the corned beef & cabbage!

So.....if you want to go somewhere & listen to some Irish music & kick back a few beers this is the place for you. That is, if you don't mind really really loud music and 2nd hand smoke. Otherwise, I hope this review saves someone some money. How in the world did it ever get 4th most popular spot in Carlsbad? there must be something wrong with the way this site reviews restaurants.

Everyone has a bad day, and so do restaurants. But, as in baseball, after 3 strikes you're out. We love Irish music and beer so an Irish pub would seem to be the place to go...but not this one if you want to eat. Tried the Carlsbad location twice and the sister pub in Escondido once and the food was awful. We're not snobs about what we eat...Shepherd's Pie isn't exactly gourmet fare...but you'd think hamburger, potatoes, and peas could be cooked so they were edible. Not here. Our last visit (4th and definitely last) was early evening about 7:30 and there were lots of empty tables. We sat long enough to wonder if anyone worked there, pondered why we would subject ourselves to the bad food just for the music, and decided waiting any longer for a beer wasn't worth it. Nobody seemed to notice or care that we walked out, including the bored receptionist.

Went to the resturant for lunch. Was very good and the service was wonderful.. Like a neighborhood pub. Food was delicious. Highly recommend it to all.
