“Lives up to Renaissance standards”

My mom and I stayed at the Renaissance for a weekend trip. It is a fabulous hotel, convenient to Hollywood attractions and near a light rail stop. The service was exceptional and friendly. Our room was a decent size on the 9th floor and looked out towards the Hollywood sign. There were wooden blinds, as well as a blinder to keep the early morning sun out of the room. We ordered room service one night, and the food was pretty good -- Twist has an eclectic menu with many things to choose. It only took 20 minutes for the food to arrive. I also took advantage of Spa Luce in the hotel, and it was incredible. The spa is beautiful, relaxing, and offers a diverse menu of treatments. Very impressed with the new spa. There is an outdoor pool on the 5th floor, which offers comfortable lounge chairs, as well as private cabanas. The beds in the room are the updated Marriott beds and EXTREMELY comfortable. The hotel is connected to the Hollywood/Highland complex, which offers a bit of shopping and restaurants (highly recommend Trastavere), and you can catch a shuttle to the Pantages theater from the complex. Valet parking through the hotel is $29/day, but there is a parking garage as part of the of the Hollywood/Highland complex for $10/day if you want to self park.

Overall, it was an excellent stay. The only downside is the $9.95 charge for internet, which seems to be a common theme in Los Angeles.

“Nice hotel, bad workout facilities”

I stayed at the Renaissance Hollywood for about a week. The location of the hotel is good, and is right next to the Kodak Theatre. The hotel, however, is not very convenient to downtown LA, or to LAX. Hotel rooms on one side of the hotel look out over the Kodak Theatre, and the other side looks out at the Hollywood sign. I particularly like the free M&M's in the lobby (clearly a very important perquisite...). On a different note, the hotel charged $5 to ship a package that was already prepaid.

The workout room in this hotel is sub-par for a hotel of this class. The workout room only has a couple of machines, and what it does have, is comparable to equipment you would have in your home.

The concierge lounge is decent, and is on-target with other Renaissance hotels. It has the standard fare in the morning (continental breakfast, with an additional two warming dishes of hot items, which vary), and in the afternoon it has some appetizers.

Overall I would stay here again, though I did think it was a tad pricy for a Renaissance (about $300 a night).

“Lovely hotel, great location”

Started a three week holiday with a three night stay in Los Angeles despite many of our friends trying to put us off. We decided to stay in the Hollywood area rather than downtown and found the Renaissance to be perfectly situated for all of the tourist/sightseeing areas. We booked a room with access to the lounge on the 19th floor which meant that we could have a free breakfast each morning and also gave us free access to coffee and soft drinks throughout the day. Our initial room was on the 20th floor but when checking in we asked to change to a lower room and was given an identical room on the 6th floor with absolutely no fuss. The room was very comfortable and had a large window looking out at the Hollywood sign. The hotel was very well presented and also had a Hertz desk which meant that we could easily pick up a car for the next phase of our trip. The hotel and surrounding area far surpassed our expectations and was a great start to our holiday.

Following other traveller reviews of this hotel, stayed for 2 nights 7/09 April 2008. Had room on 17th floor overlooking Hollywood Hills and sign. No problems checking in, friendly, helpful staff. Room big and spacious, had 2 queen beds for my husband and I and 2 children. Very clean. Restaurant good not too pricey, swimming pool outside good. Overall experience of hotel excellant. Right next to Kodak Theatre, Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre. Ok but wouldnt want to go out at night with children, In that case better to stay in Beverley Hills. Visited Universal Studios, great place for kids, had a hire car, so drove around Sunset boulevard, sunset strip, Rodeo drive, Mulholland Drive, so can do all tours do, and cheaper, sat nav recommended
