“Good value, nice place”

Stayed here for a 5 night break in February after reading the reviews . We were looking for a decent-standard, reasonably priced hotel in a good location, and basically that's what we got.

Good things:
-big rooms (2 queen sized beds) with coffee maker, refurbished bathroom, big TV, fridge (no mimi-bar), comfy chair etc. Great linen/pillows/beds

-friendly and efficient service from front desk, valet parking and others

-nice breakfast spread (although several kids running amok with the waffle maker made a mess !)

-nice pool (very quiet) and loungers

-reasonable gym (also quiet)

-range of sweets etc available behing the front desk for those late night snack attacks

-nice bar

-free internet access in the lobby

-shopping/eating mall next door with a few restaurants if you don't want to stray too far. Chain places only though - Cheesecake Factory, El Toritos, Fuddruckers etc

Other stuff to think about (not necessarily negative)

-apart from the mall, not much else within walking distance

-valet parking good but USD 22 per day (plus tips). Might be able to park on the streets a block or two behind (but we never tried it)

All in all, good value. Not a central location but we knew that. If you don't know LA, beware the heavy traffic 24 hours a day !

“Loved this hotel”

Nice, clean hotel with good service and all necessary amenities. Great location, right by the main highway. No noise complaints from us, maybe because we did so much in the days we were exhausted by bedtime. Breakfast (not included) is also very good. Our room was just like the photos I saw on previous reviews. Only thing is that we wished parking was included..its $15 a night to park.

“Very Good Stay”

Courtyard Los Angeles-San Fernando Valley

4 of 5 stars
Pittsburgh

My wife & I stayed at this property last November. Many of the prior reviews are "spot on." Yes, there is noise, but, since it is a block from the 405, what can you expect? Once acclimated, we had no problem sleeping.

Location is great -- a lot of restaurants within walking distance; a convenience store to the left of the hotel; & some on-street parking, also to the left, if you are brave enough to take the chance on availability. We used the garage, which was very convenient.

The front desk was very friendly & helpful; we had a relatively seamless check in/out.

Only things to consider? First, all rooms may have balconies, but, at least on the 7th floor, the slider only opens a couple of inches, so don't assume that the balcony is usable. Also, the "roof top" pool is on the roof of the 4th, not the top, floor, so don't expect much od a view.

“Sleek Valley Gem”

Our family of four booked into a luxurious King Suite as we were attending a 3 day function nearby and needed space and privacy. It was beautifully appointed, with a king sized bed in one room and a couch, fridge, coffee machine, desk, and chairs in the second room. There was enough room in the living room to accommodate a roll-out bed as well. Both rooms had modern TVs and attractive fittings. The bathroom was spacious and clean and had a large supply of plush towels and lovely toiletries. Although the hotel is built right next to a busy freeway, I didn’t find the traffic noise intrusive at all (we were on the ninth floor). There is reduced charge on-site parking at the property for about $15 a day and no breakfasts are included ($13 in the hotel restaurant). A cheaper option is to go the Sherman Oaks Galleria, 5 minutes away on foot, and buy breakfast at Starbucks (better value for a family). The hotel lobby is attractive, modern and welcoming and has 3 free computers for guest use, as well as a printer. There is also a laundry, pool area and gym. I was extremely happy at this property, slept well, and in general liked the neighborhood and its nearby amenities. In addition, the staff were very helpful and professional.

“another good Marriott”

Courtyard Los Angeles-San Fernando Valley

Dec 2, 2007

This busy urban Marriott feels like a small boutique hotel, with a friendly staff and modern, well-designed interiors. It's right next to the 405 freeway, which is both convenient and noisy. However, the double glazing on the large windows keeps the highway noise down to a minimum.

It's a pleasure to come into such a clean and comfortable room. The pure white cotton bedding that's now standard Marriott issue is great. Marriott made a good move when they went non-smoking chainwide.

The breakfast (not included in the price) was good, and healthy options were there. The parking was a bit steep ($14 per night) but it was secure, and street parking seemed impossible.
