We booked this place after reading the amazing reviews here on this site. We stayed on the second floor. It was the most disgusting room/ dirty and small hotel I've ever been in. There were dirty stuff smeared on the wall and its very old place. And for the price low 100's I think I could have booked somewhere else better. The location was great, just a step out to the beach, but there were a lot of homeless folks around at night and gangster wannabes. We got there late evening and just stayed for the night and there's not much to do. And the room was really unconfortable as it was small and dirty. I'm really amazed with the reviews this place had.

We came here with an infant.. not very idea place to stay with an infant either as the place is small and the elevator is tiny. And there were some people who were stoned outside our hotel.

I had visited Venice Beach briefly when staying at Santa Monica in 1994, so to find such an ideal location for a holiday was wonderful. A friend and I stayed for 7 days from 2-9 October 2007. We were made very welcome and nothing was too much bother for the staff who were always helpful, patient and showed us a very warm welcome. The room was brilliant, the best of our three centre Holiday (San Francisco and New York being the other two). Having the beach so close, the sound of the sea at night and the palm trees to give some shade - it couldn't have been better. Restaurants and bars in the immediate area were good for eating and a two minute walk to the bus stop for buses to Santa Monica and beyond were well situtated. There's lots of free day time 'enterntainment' on the Boardwalk too! A wonderful relaxing place. Blue skies and temperatures in the low 80's all week. We shall return! Highly recommended.

We just got back from 2 nights at this hotel and can't say enough about it. Our room had a ocean view and was charming and clean as a whistle! We were on the fourth floor and had a full kitchen (small but had everything we would need). It had beautiful hardwood floors and a funky brick wall. The bathroom was tiny but the shower itself was better than the one I had at a Hilton in San Diego the week before.

The gal in the office was very friendly and helped us find good places to eat and fun stuff to do. The boardwalk was amazing too. Lots of interesting jpeople to talk with. Of course, we are both old hippies so we fit right in. People were very mellow and fun to talk to.

I would definitely recommend the hotel and Venice Beach. We can't wait to get back.

The very best asset of this place is it's location. You can literally feel the sea breeze in your room, walk out the door and onto the boardwalk and beach. So if you're here for the beach, for the hippy experience, that's it. However, if you're expecting any kind of service perfection, this might not be the place for you.

The people were wonderful, in some aspects it's more of a yought hostel than it is a hotel (having to run downstairs to borrow a hairdryer, that kind of stuff) but they are extremely friendly and helpful. There's a tv in the room with a lot of channels, they didn't make a fuss about us requesting an extra bed, the rooms are fairly large, but the downside would be the hygiene. We found some hairs in our bed, the shower clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while, there was dust in the corners.

If you can look past the imperfections, it's the perfect place for you. I certainly would go again.
