“Perfect For Us!”

Magic Castle Hotel

Apr 14, 2008

My family just got back from our week in California with the Magic Castle Hotel being the highlight! We were travelling with two adults and two teenage boys. Perfect, perfect!

We spent three nights at the hotel after a couple of nights in Santa Barbara. The Magic Castle Hotel is within walking distance of Grauman's Chinese Theater which is a great shopping/dining area.

Our room was the size of an apartment with a separate bedroom with two full size beds. The living area had a pull out sofa sleeper. We had a full kitchen complete with stove, microwave, fridge, etc.

Upon check-in we were greeted with a faux, yummy, champagne for each of us and an extensive list of free snacks that we could ask for at anytime. There was also a list of dvd's that you could rent, again for free. With a room rate of a little over $200 a night, the freebies really added up. It was great to walk by the front desk, on our way out for the day, and have free bottled water waiting for us.

The continental breakfast included fresh fruits, cereals, juices, and yogurt. Every evening there was iced cucumber water sitting in the lobby. Everytime we walked into the hotel, one of the employees would greet us and make sure our stay was going along perfectly.

The staff was as attentive and nice as they could be. I cannot think of anything I would've changed about our stay at the Magic Castle Hotel. If we thought of it, they provided it, with a smile on their face.

“Almost Perfect!!”

My husband and I stayed at the Magic Castle hotel for 4 days and found the hotel staff were beyond helpful and friendly in fact they were amazing. Upon our arrival we were upgraded to a suite which was a pleasant surprise. We were at the back of the property on the top floor, overlooking the pool. We didn't use the pool but some kids used it whilst we were there and seemed to be having a ball.

Now for the not so great:-

We (or I should say my husband) had to struggle up the stairs with our cases without any assistance

The bath had a little bit of mould around the grouting but the bathroom itself was otherwise clean they alos provided fluffy robes

The furniture was a little scruffy in places and could do with being updated. This was true of the hotel in general, it is in need of an upgrade especially the main reception, walkways and stairs. All in all these things were not a big deal and really didn't spoil our stay.

The suite we stayed in had a fully equiped kitchen: microwave cooker, fridge freezer with ice tray coffee maker. The living area was spacious with generous seating a tv and satelite and DVD player. The bedroom was very comfortable with a king size bed lovely! it also had ample wardrobe space and tv and satelite and lovely lighting. We could not hear much road noise as we were at the back but I have to say that the walls are very thin and could almost make out the conversation the people below us were having. But that said, luckily we did not have any noisy neighbours during our stay.

The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to the Kodak Theatre and other attractions, most tours pick up from this hotel too. Most attractions were no more than 20 mins drive away.

I think it's fair to say that what made the stay good for us was the amazing staff (we have stayed at some top hotels but I have to say that the staff here rival those) who were more that happy to help with anything from turning on the heating system almost immediately when asked and booking our tour which was brill!!. Oh and not to forget the free mini bar snacks and drinks that were availiable 24hrs and DVD supplies.

If it's luxury you're after then this is not the place for you. But if you want to be treated like royalty be comfortable in knowing that the Magic Castle is not only value for money but is a great place to stay for seeing Los Angeles, Beverley Hill and such places.

“Great Hotel”

Magic Castle Hotel

We stayed here for 3 nights late March 2008 and had a great time. The location is excellent - easy walking to the Chinese Theatre and the subway stop that takes you to Universal Studios. The Reception staff were superb, extremely helpful and the kids absolutely loved the free drinks and numerous snacks available from Reception. Also the free DVD rental facility. While it's true there is a parking charge per night, it's what you come to expect in large cities these days.

The only minor issue we had was with housekeeping. Our toiletries were not replaced/refilled during our 3 day stay and a broken lamp which we reported on our first night wasn't dealt with, but all in all a very good place to stay in Hollywood.

We had a takeaway one night from a local Chinese restaurant called "Le Oriental Bistro". The food was fabulous!

“Little gem found in Hollywood!”

Magic Castle Hotel

Loved the Magic Castle Hotel! We stayed for 3 nights and were welcomed like family. Daphne gave me a big cuddle when we arrived as I had been emailing her prior to our arrival.
This was the first part of our holiday to the USA to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. Not only were we upgraded to a 1 bed suite upon arrival, but we found that the staff had left us a bottle of wine (called "Honey Moon") and a congratulations card signed by them all which was a lovely touch!
The bed linen and pillows were beautifully clean and fresh as were the towels and dressing gowns. The furnishings are a little dated I agree, but our stay here was excellent.
The staff are so friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Gretchen, the front office manager drove us up to the Yamashiro restaurant to have a look round and gave us some useful information which was a lovely touch.
They provide free breakfast and a free 24hour mini bar service from reception giving free snacks, chocolate and soft drinks.
The location of the hotel was great - one street away from Hollywood boulevard and the Metro subway - one stop to Universal Studios.
Overall a lovely stay which I would not hesitate to repeat on our next visit to Hollywood.

“Wonderful Stay!! Great Service!!”

We were only staying one night and wanted to take our kids (9, 12) to see the walk of fame, so we wanted to stay within walking distance of Hollywood Blvd. This was Perfect! We were two blocks away. The hotel had Excellent service. They greeted us with a drink (non-a) and knew who we were. Snacks, pop and movies were free. Selection was great. Everyone was so friendly and when we asked for extra blankets, someone was there within 10 minutes. Our room was large with a separate bedroom with TV. We could put the kids to bed and stay up to watch TV and use the kitchen. The staff suggested a pizza place to deliver and it was terrific and delivered right to the room. We also had a cruize to catch the next day and they set us up with a driver in a large towncar to take us to the port of LA. He was outstanding too! He even was there to pick us up when the ship came back in and took us to the airport and that was on Easter! Absolutely wonder service. We all are looking forward to visiting again! Oh and the pool was great too!

The only issue that could be for someone are the stairs and there is no elevator. Remeber these are old apartments, but ours was kept up VERY well.
