“Excellent Luxurious Honeymoon Escape”

August Seven Inn Luxury Bed and Breakfast

5 of 5 stars
Bremerton, WA
Jul 5, 2008

This was a wonderful stay at an Inn. Luxury at its finest and a excellent example of a B&B. We would love to come again and experience it again. We came for our honeymoon on March 17, 2007 and stayed for one night. The service was excellent and a wonderful respite from our drive from Woodbine, GA. A nice and well-timed reprieve before the birth of our daughter, Josephine Olivia. Thank you so much for the service and the hospitality.

May you be in God's grace and peace.

“Love the Place”

August Seven Inn Luxury Bed and Breakfast

Mar 13, 2008

I stayed here during my week of training for the State of Florida. This place is fabulous I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get a way for a quaint little vacation. The owners are so wonderful they cater to your every need. I had fresh towels every day, my room was cleaned on a daily basis. I will personally reommend The August Seven Inn to all my co-workers at the Agency for Persons with Disabilities.

“Wedding Nightmare”

August Seven Inn Luxury Bed and Breakfast

Feb 4, 2008

This place SHOULD NOT host weddings. Our friends recently got married on site here. It COULD and SHOULD have been a lovely occasion. Instead, we dealt with an Innkeeper who promised alot but did nothing. Though - he did take a lot of pictures-hope they do not show up on his website. Small requests prior to the wedding date were answered with "how much it would cost them to do it." This seemed to be the theme of the weekend. The Innkeepers repeatedly informed us how much everything cost in case we broke it. We were ADULTS. This was not a wedding of 20 somethings. We were insulted, treated to a terrible experience, found no "tranquility", and would never return here. Lastly, the breakfast.....which was only served on Saturday......I am still waiting for the Sunday meal, was sub-par. The food was set out btw 10:30 and 11am and then their was enough to feed possibly 6 people. The bride and groom had rented the entire place out. What a joke.

Management Response

Dear Bed and Breakfast.com-

This posted review is entirely incorrect. I have spoken to many bed and breakfast owners who have stopped having weddings at their Inn for the sole purpose that people like this reserve the Inn and then abuse it in everyway possible.

This reviewer was not on the contract and was merely a guest of the Inn. We have a contract as most Inns do for weddings. In the contract it states that you are completely responsible for your guests and attendees while here at our Inn.

These people kept every door in our Inn wide open letting in bugs and lord knows what else in the Inn, when we had repeatedly asked then to please not leave the doors open. We live on a corner lot beachside with lots of foot traffic and anyone could just walk right in, so it was for the safety of our guests as well.

This party did not inform us of a rehearsal dinner the night before, but sprung it on us that evening. We let then use our dining room and all of our good china and silverware free of charge. Any caterer would charge you for the use of plateware and silver.

Heat lamps were not requested by this party, I am sure you can understand as business owners that I can not give things away free. This party knew their reception was outside and should have planned accordingly. Needless to say we allowed them to use the heat lamps and did not charge them for it. We also allowed them to burn our wood, which cost us money to replace in our fire pit for free.

They stained a chair, a settee, they dumped cake in our parking lot and did not pick it up. Their caterers (family members) threw the rest of their ice sculpture with cocktail sauce and shrimp down our front sidewalk that people walk up.

They moved items around in the Inn when in the contract it clearly states that nothing is to be altered or moved in the Inn.

They brought in their own alcohol which per our contract because we have a full liquor license, is illegal and against Florida policies. They drank 3 bottles of champagne and left in the morning without paying for them and somehow 2 bottles of wine went missing from our wine fridge, now I do not know who took them, but if the doors to the Inn were closed as we had asked, they may still be there.

As with most lodging there would be a charge for something extra, especially a day before the wedding.

Breakfast was served late due to the guests all staying up late in the eve, I figured they would appreciate a warm and fresh breakfast. As I did not know how many would be attending I cooked to order, and there was plenty of food.

The bride and groom had already left at 7:30am and a lovely breakfast was ready for the rest of the wedding party on Sunday morning, a wonderful quiche to be exact, which I did not serve after the father of the groom insulted me, when all I had ever asked of them was for the doors to be kept closed upon entering and exiting the Inn.

Now we have fruit flies all over the inside of our Inn.

As they have stated, they are not bunch of 20 somethings. These people choose our Inn for its beauty. If we had no rules at all, how would we keep this Inn as beautiful as it is for the next guest to enjoy. Guests must understand that a B&B is someones home, and when in someones home you should be respectful.

And we have had many 20 somethings whom have stayed here and behaved well.

As you may notice, we have many wonderful reviews about our Inn, we go to great lengths to see that every detail is taken care of. We have had many wonderful weddings here and have a few more planned next month. None of these wedding guests had anything bad to say and we went out of our way to please them, the same as we did the Scott & Sara Kaye wedding.

The honeymoon suite was cleaned for the day, the bride then got ready in that room and after she left we went in to do turn down service and found the room in much disarray and took 45 minutes to clean. We did this as a courtesy as most hotels and motels only clean a room once, we were never thanked for this gesture. Yet instead we received this review.

We ordered extra white chairs out of our own pockets because the bride did not like the chairs on our veranda.

Furniture was never moved back to its original place on our patio as per contract, we had to move it ourselves. The rental company for the chairs and tables came and no one from the wedding party was here to see that they were removed properly. We helped the rental company place the items on the truck and see that all was accounted for.

They had an open bar for many hours inwhich our inhouse bartender only made $7 dollars in tips. Due to lack of tips we had tip him additionally.

It would be a shame if we were to be like many other Inns and decide to stop having weddings. This review is inaccurate and I am willing to send pictures of the damage, the contract and their bill if you would like proof of what had occurred. It would be awful to have our reputation ruined from a party that was not happy simply because we asked them to close the doors of the Inn.

We are devastated that after all we have done for them, they would do this to us.

“Peaceful Getaway”

August Seven Inn Luxury Bed and Breakfast

5 of 5 stars
Jacksonville, FL
Jan 21, 2008

Our stay at August 7 was filled with tranquility and relaxation. Peter and Joseph were extremely accomadating and friendly. We thorougly enjoyed the extra detail and thought that they put into their bed and breakfast. The sound machine, the whirlpool bathtub, and the fireplace in our room were an acceptional addition to our weekend.

“Serenity at a B&B”

August Seven Inn Luxury Bed and Breakfast

5 of 5 stars
Gainesville, Florida
Aug 7, 2007

We stayed in the 1022 Room for one night last weekend. The only things that were not perfect were that the directions say that the final turn is the first left and Joe's mom accidentally gave us the wrong single key. Technically the "first left" puts you going the wrong way into their one way parking lot and we arrived while the owners were running an errand and we were given a key to the room, but not the set with a key to the outside door. We knew that we'd be back at a decent hour, so we figured we would check on general building access then. Peter give us the correct keys when we returned - and apologized too much. NOT a big deal.

Everything else was perfect - the Inn, the room, the bed, the spa tub, the secret touches when you return at night (I will not reveal their secrets), and the delicious breakfast. The bathroom looked like it was added or remodeled in the 1950s or 1960s, but it was nice, functional, and I loved the (probably new) tub/shower.

They advertise that they are a short walk to the beach, which is true. They are also a short walk to Jackie Robinson Park, home of the Daytona Cubs, and Beach Street's restaurants, antique stores, and rare book store.

This was a great get-away and we hope to return.
