My wife and 2 kids (14 & 10) stayed over spring break at the Hyatt Winward Point. Check in was a breeze - and the room was fabulous. All the rooms face the ocean, are huge with a deluxe kitchen, 3 tvs and a telescope for watching stars or boats that pass by. Even though the property and pool were clean and the staff friendly, we still found our overall experience to be average. The drawbacks to this property is it's location and amenities. The nearest beach is 1 mile down the road, the airport is right next to the hotel so airplanes taking off and landing can be heard all day and early evening, the snack bar was OK with sandwiches and hot dogs and beer/drinks, . .but that's it. No in-room movie rentals (the VHS machine in the lobby was all out and only had older movies), no room service, no restaurant on site, no work-out room, no game room, . . .nothing. The room was fabulous - but that's all you get here - everything else, dinner, beach, watersports, entertainment - you have to go somewhere else for. If you are looking for a big room to just relax in with a great ocean view - this is the place. If you're looking to see and expereince any of Key West - this may not be for you. We like the restaurants, shops and activities of Duval Street, so next time we'll be staying somewhere else.
Also, the hotel shuttle to the pier is $25/day or $65 for 4 days - per room, and tipping each way is expected. The shuttle runs on the hour - but it was late or full half the time we rode it. We found a pay lot right next to the shuttle drop-off point downtown for $10/day. If you drove to Key West - park yourself - it's cheaper and more convenient.
