A great family trip. The tour starts as you enter the reserve with almost all animals free roaming. This means to expect close encounters. Rhinos may in fact cross in front of your car and an ostrich at your window looking in!
The lions are now enclosed in a pen you drive around. But, years ago they were open and you if crazy enough could get out and touch them! They have rangers always stationed near the lions should someone get out of the vehicles in procession.
Then after you do the loop which is around a mile or two? The park is a nice quaint family with kids scene a water playground, a few kiddie rides. A paddle boat dock, boat tours on a pontoon, and a petting zoo as well.
***TIPS***
I suggest early morning hours to see some animals on safari they do hide up in the hot Florida heat. Then by noon you should have plenty of time for the water playground if you have some small kids! Do not forget sunscreen and a suit as well perhaps under your child's clothes.
Last I knew you could get a second round in the park for free. Take one more tour around if your not too tired! Happy Zooing!
