When we arrived our reservation did not exist, although this had been booked some 9 months ago and we had our voucher to prove that we were staying there.
The check in staff did eventually have a non smoking room available if we waited an hour, which we duly did at the poolside bar. The staff were very friendly, which made up for the slow service.
When we got our room, it was very spacious and clean. Although on one occasion it did take until 4pm for the cleaner to start tidying our room.
The Concierge was extremely helpful, as we did not rent a car, numerous trips could be organised and picked up from the hotel including an everglades and a city tour.
The hotel was very clean and air conditioned, with a 30 second walk from the poolside and onto Miami beach. A boardwalk has been designed for pedestrians so they can walk from their hotel, adjacent to the beach up thus avoiding all vehicular traffic.

Excellent hotel located right on the beach. Worthwhile paying extra for a beach view - we were on the 10th (top) floor and had a superb view along the beach.
Just 13 blocks from the excellent Lincoln Road, where there are load of excellent restaurants and shops. Great for people-watching.
Also within easy reach of Ocean Drive/Art Deco district.
Hotel staff were excellent, especially the waiting staff in the superb restaurant. Great omellete chef! On the Sunday we stayed, it was Mother's Day in the USA - all the staff in the restaurant were dressed in tuxedos at breakfast, and we all get a glass of champagne with all the ladies also getting a red rose. Great touch.
Will we be returning? - Guaranteed!

Rooms and hotel were nice. Very great beach and pool right outside with free hotel towels. It is a bit of a walk from main restaurants and bars but able to be done (I have a few blisters to prove it). Seems to be one of hte nicer hotels in this price range. We booked our rooms on Hotwire.com and got an even better deal. You must be accepting of foreigners to stay here. North American English is a minority and German, Spanish, etc. seemed to dominate. The hotel staff spoke English but the people staying in the hotel were mostly from countries other than the U.S..

We went in our honeymoon to miami and stayed in Riu!
We loved the hotel, very clean, always with a nice scent!
The staff very pleasant and helpfull, with a smile...
The food could varie some more and the night entretainment, could be better... just has a suggestion a pool party would be great, nice space!
In a general matter the hotel was great, the pool space is very nice and we came back to Portugal very pleased...
