My husband and I attended a dance event at the hotel. He arrived Saturday, July 12th, and I arrived the following Friday.
The room was spacious with a very workable footprint and some very nice amenities. The oversized closet area allowed us to have a room free of luggage, shoes and the usual things you leave outside a typical dark, dinky hotel closet.
The bed was extremely comfortable with a superb mattress and 6 regular pillows, 2 square pillows and a bolster, affording comfort whether we were sleeping, reading, or watching the flat-screen TV.
The water pressure and temperature in the shower were exactly what you hope for and seldom find in a large hotel - perfect!
The lavender-citrus shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap are of superb quality and smell wonderful. They are available at a very reasonable price throught the "Hyatt at Home" catalogue in the room.
The desk in the room is oversized with a marble-like top, so we didn't feel uncomfortable eating there. In addition, there was a 6-outlet power strip, convenient for charging the cell phones, the laptop and the battery of the digital camera. The light is also good for working or reading.
The staff, especially our housekeeper and the staff at the concierge desk, went out of their way to be helpful - including making a couple of phone calls to see if a friend were registered at a nearby hotel. Each staff member I encountered made a point to give a gracious greeting - even on Sunday when about 80% of the hotel was checking out.
There is no restaurant, but the coffee shop had lovely breakfast foods, fruit, yogurt , salads and sandwiches available from breakfast time until late at night. There were several restaurants a short walk away for guests wanting to eat outside the hotel.
We didn't use the pool, but its location and that of the fitness center were well marked.
There is very convenient self-parking next door, and valet parking as well. There is also a tram stop right next to the property.
We were particularly entertained watching the drawbridge going up and down to let large vessels go through the canal.
The meeting rooms are well lighted, nicely decorated, and kept at a very comfortable temperature (they were a little chilly when we weren't dancing, but very comfortable once we started, and that isn't easy to accomplish).
I would recommend this hotel highly to anyone wanting to visit downtown Miami.l
