“Excellent and good value”

We stayed one night as it's very close to the airport and we had an early departure. It's only a 5 min drive from the airport but you don't hear much plane noise.

All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

The room was a good size although the bathroom was slightly smaller than expected. The main point is that everything is spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

A couple of things were missing though - no safe and minibar which I expect as standard in this class of hotel.

We arrived quite late and didn't wander around the area but there is a tiny shop in the lobby for small items such as bottled water and crisps/chips.

No complaints about the food as both room service and breakfast was good and reasonable value too.

Strongly recommended

“Slightly Below Sofitel Standards, but Still Good”

The Sofitel Miami is located just 5 minutes by car from the Miami Airport. Half the rooms offer a nice view of the lagoon.

The rooms are very spacious and feature the usual Sofitel bed (my favorite). The bathrrom were OK, but felt more like those you'd expect from a Hilton or a Marriott.

Those driving will find the parking lot in front of the hotel very convenient. You do howeever need to pay before exiting (like in any parking lot).

The room service food I had was excellent and prepared on time. I enjoyed the outdoor pool as the gym is also convenient.

The shortcomings of the hotel were the lack of minibars in the room, the Marriott/Hilton style bathrroms and the fact that ice cream (in room-service) was only available in pints (Ben & Jerry's). Also, I wanted a pair of slippers (not already in the room) to go to the swimming pool but getting the message across to the spanish-speaking maids proved VERY difficult.

The staff was very friendly and helpful during my stay.

“Decent, but not special”

Sofitel Miami

Stayed at the Sofitel Miami pre-cruise for one night. Received a discount through a professional org.; wasn't dirt cheap but was much better than the advertised rate. Hotel shuttle from airport was speedy and we didn't wait long at the curb. Bed, as others have mentioned, was very nice. Firm, but not like a slab of rock. Our room was adequate, but kind of run down overall. Bathroom grout was stained and the bathroom sink cabinet was shabby and marked up. The TV speaker in the bathroom was a nice surprise. Kind of freaky at first, but then I realized how much I enjoyed being able to listen to the news while I was primping. Our room was really nothing special - didn't feel like a fancy hotel. Airport noise was not a bother. Service was prompt, efficient, and mostly friendly. Breakfast buffet was average - had some French touches (crepes, jams, fancy eggs). Coffee was served from a French press and was delicious. We noticed little bugs crawling up the wall by our table (we ate inside). None on the table, but that still gave me the willies. The shuttle to the Port of Miami was very affordable. I suppose I was hoping for something a little more special and distinctive when I booked the Sofitel Miami - we were celebrating our anniversary (hence the cruise getaway) and I wanted our whole vacation to be awesome. I didn't feel like the Sofitel met my expectations in this regard. It wasn't as lush as I had hoped and was led to believe.

“Absolutely LOVED this hotel.”

Sofitel Miami

We stayed at the Sofitel Miami for one night pre-cruise, and for one day (day room use) post cruise.

I loved this hotel.

On arrival at the hotel, we were checked in and in a lift up to our room literally within 5 minutes of walking through the front door! The check in agent was friendly and helpful, and the whole process trouble free.

The room was lovely. There were two double beds, with really comfy matress toppers and lovely fluffy pillows. The TV had loads of channels, and there was a massive wardrobe with plenty of coathangers (although I didn't use this as only overnight). There was also a chez longe (no, I have no idea how to spell that), and a large desk and chair, with stationery.

The bathroom was really clean, and quite luxurious. The water pressure and temperature was perfect for showering, and there were lovely toiletries and shoe shines.

The rooms were nice and quiet, and I heard no traffic or airport noise.

The bar was well stocked, and the bar staff friendly. In the bar area there were 5 (I think) computers with internet access, totally free to use. These kept the kids occupied while we had a drink.

There is an outside pool, although I would never have gone in it because it was quite cold, the kids, who don't feel the cold, were in like a shot! There were tables and chairs, and sun loungers around the pool, and pool towels provided.

The hotel has a free shuttle bus between the airport and hotel. Stand outside airport arrivals, and when you see a bus with Sofitel Miami on it, hail it down and jump in. The transfer took us about 10 minutes. When you want to get back to the airport, just wait outside the lobby and jump in the next bus. It's all very easy, and free.

Overall, I loved this hotel, and if I ever need an overnight at Miami airport again, I will definately choose this hotel.

Having one night stopover in miami between flights it could not of worked better. Arrived at miami airport with no hotel booked and rang the sofitel from an ad at airport .The hotel told us to get on the sofitel bus which leave regulary from airport which turned up virtually straight away. The lobby and bar areas look fantastic with a stunning swimming pool directly outside. The beds were extremely comfortable and rooms a nice size with a great lake view. This is a 4 star hotel and a good one at that. Probably not a holiday hotel as it is not to close to beaches but very good value for what we paid i would definately stay here again in simular circumstances.
