“AMAZING STAY”

Ritz-Carlton South Beach

Aug 4, 2008

The Ritz Carlton was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The service was incredible and the rooms were kept very clean. The staff was incredibly sweet and if you are to eat outside by the pool, ask for the waiter called John. He served us many times and was the best waiter you could ask for. Not that the other waiters are bad, I would say he would be my favourite. I HIGHLY reccomend that you stay here at THIS hotel because it is just great.

“Not so Great”

I will make this short and to the point. Nice location - gorgeous lobby - SMALL rooms. Rooms feel old and sticky. Had the buffet in the morning for breakfast. One of the worst selections and quality I have ever had. "Partial Ocean-View" means a view of the neighboring a/c units and roof. Not at all impressed. With so many choices to chose from you can do better. I have stayed in many other Ritz Carltons as the rooms here leave MUCH to be desired.

“Pitz Carlton”

Ritz-Carlton South Beach

2 of 5 stars

Jul 22, 2008

One of the worst hotel experiences I have had. Started on day 1 and got worse each day. My husband and I were staying there with my in-laws and my sister in law to celebrate a 60th birthday for 5 days. We had booked 3 sea view rooms 2 months in advance but none of us got sea view rooms and there were none left, so we had to stay in our concrete wall view rooms. We were staying on the club floor and the rooms were spacious and nice, exactly what we had expected. The club floor facilities were good. Housekeeping never seemed able to make up any of the rooms before 4pm even though we had been out of them since 9am each day and even called to let them know we were going. Finally, after much complaining to management, they made up the rooms and even managed a turndown service, which was also non-existent. They also never managed to give us bath or shower mats for the floor. We came back one evening to find the room finally done and they had even gone the extra mile to put flowers on the bed etc. I guess since we had been complaining about the service. However, they had forgotten to put any linens on the bed except for the sheet to cover the mattress. Just stupid! Then we had to wait 30 mins for them to come in and make up the bed, which was not great at 11:30pm. The air conditioning broke down a couple of times in our room. I opened the closet one evening and the full length mirror inside the door fell out on top of me. The fire escape room plan on the back of the door to the room did not show the correct position of our room. The room charge sign in the closet which tells you that you should not be paying more than the indicated price for the room was much lower than we were paying. The pool area is small and there was not enough seating or loungers to meet the demand. It was a turf war for seating and people were getting mad. It seemed ridiculous since being in South Beach, you would think that they would anticipate people wanting to relax outside. The restaurant by the pool had the worst staff. My husband and I wanted to have lunch one day and it was quiet in the restaurant. We asked to sit outside as there were plenty of free tables, but we were told rudely that they were all reserved. It was 1.30pm and no kidding there were about 8 tables. We asked to sit at a table for 4 people instead, but they said they needed to keep it free for a party of 4. We ended up sitting inside and the whole time no one came to sit outside. So much for the lunch reservations!! The bar gave us the wrong drinks a couple of times. It went on and on with other stuff, so we pretty much had an ongoing relationship with the manager who seemed overwhelmed by other issues. She gave us all a free nights stay valid for a year, which none of us ended up using. On our last day, we went to check out and water started pouring out of the ceiling in the lobby. Maybe this was just a really unlucky stay for all of us, but we will not be returning to find out. I don't rate Ritz Carlton as having particulary good service. I have since stayed at the one in New Orleans and New York and they also seemed poor in all areas. We decided not book at a Ritz again.

“NIce but Expensive”

Ritz-Carlton South Beach

We had a girl's weekend at the Ritz in June. The Hotel is nice, but I was expecting a WOW factor being the Ritz. The Rooms are standard size, the bathrooms are huge for a standard room. We loved how close the beach was to our hotel. simply beautiful.

Pool service was top notch. The only problem -It was very expensive. The food and drinks were priced high. I say this for people who are traveling on a budget. I guess that's what you get when you stay in South beach. Also, the pool can be crowded or dead depends.

All and all had a wonderful time.

“Loved it....”

Visited the Ritz Carlton last week for a 7 night stay and had a truly great time. Hotel is in a fantastic location, beach front hotel and five minute walk to the main part of Ocean Drive. Hotel is big but not too large. Great bar and restaurants – albeit a bit pricey for lunch and the menu was quite limited so would recommend eating outside. Rooms are large and clean. We had a large fruit bowl in the room for our arrival and with the fruit/water cakes around the hotel during our stay – these touches were very nice! Very impressed with the hotel and in my opinion the best South Beach hotel – Pool was great – was busy whilst we were there as it was the July 4th celebrations – Great DJ all day and evening. The pool is a raised level from the beach and felt secure – other hotels such as The National, Lowes and Delano had the pool on the same level as the beach and could be accessed by the public – not safe in my opinion. Great stay, great weather and great people – Will def go back!
