One of the worst hotel experiences I have had. Started on day 1 and got worse each day. My husband and I were staying there with my in-laws and my sister in law to celebrate a 60th birthday for 5 days. We had booked 3 sea view rooms 2 months in advance but none of us got sea view rooms and there were none left, so we had to stay in our concrete wall view rooms. We were staying on the club floor and the rooms were spacious and nice, exactly what we had expected. The club floor facilities were good. Housekeeping never seemed able to make up any of the rooms before 4pm even though we had been out of them since 9am each day and even called to let them know we were going. Finally, after much complaining to management, they made up the rooms and even managed a turndown service, which was also non-existent. They also never managed to give us bath or shower mats for the floor. We came back one evening to find the room finally done and they had even gone the extra mile to put flowers on the bed etc. I guess since we had been complaining about the service. However, they had forgotten to put any linens on the bed except for the sheet to cover the mattress. Just stupid! Then we had to wait 30 mins for them to come in and make up the bed, which was not great at 11:30pm. The air conditioning broke down a couple of times in our room. I opened the closet one evening and the full length mirror inside the door fell out on top of me. The fire escape room plan on the back of the door to the room did not show the correct position of our room. The room charge sign in the closet which tells you that you should not be paying more than the indicated price for the room was much lower than we were paying. The pool area is small and there was not enough seating or loungers to meet the demand. It was a turf war for seating and people were getting mad. It seemed ridiculous since being in South Beach, you would think that they would anticipate people wanting to relax outside. The restaurant by the pool had the worst staff. My husband and I wanted to have lunch one day and it was quiet in the restaurant. We asked to sit outside as there were plenty of free tables, but we were told rudely that they were all reserved. It was 1.30pm and no kidding there were about 8 tables. We asked to sit at a table for 4 people instead, but they said they needed to keep it free for a party of 4. We ended up sitting inside and the whole time no one came to sit outside. So much for the lunch reservations!! The bar gave us the wrong drinks a couple of times. It went on and on with other stuff, so we pretty much had an ongoing relationship with the manager who seemed overwhelmed by other issues. She gave us all a free nights stay valid for a year, which none of us ended up using. On our last day, we went to check out and water started pouring out of the ceiling in the lobby. Maybe this was just a really unlucky stay for all of us, but we will not be returning to find out. I don't rate Ritz Carlton as having particulary good service. I have since stayed at the one in New Orleans and New York and they also seemed poor in all areas. We decided not book at a Ritz again.
