We were contacted this winter by HGVC and offered a preview promotion. We frequently stay at Hilton properties, but are not club members. When we arrived, we were greeted at the gate by the guard like we were arriving dignitaries and the same way at the front door. We were led to the check-in desk, where everything was as smooth as silk. We were on time for check-in...exactly 4pm. I expected a line, but there was none. We were directed to our suite...a 2 bedroom lock-off. I didn't understand the concept at the time of booking, but it is a 1 bedroom suite attached to a studio. This was slightly difficult for us as we have children of the opposite sex. Our daughter got the studio and our son slept on a pull out sofa in our room. Not great, but no complaints. My husband and I lacked some privacy, sharing a bathroom with our son, but it's not like we don't share at home. They do have conventional 2 BR condos on site, but none were available at the time. No big deal for us. HGVC leaves nothing to chance, every detail is covered. Kitchen supplies, toiletries, etc. The only thing missing during our stay was salt and pepper. Shakers in the units would be a nice touch. The only other suggestion I would have for the resort is placing a small teak bench in the master bedroom shower. It is massive, but there is nowhere for a lady to place her foot during shaving...a critical need for swimsuit weather! The grounds, furnishings and buildings were immaculate. Housekeeping was excellent, the room beautifully reset each time we left. Our only issue was that they only left decaf coffee for us, even after we left notes requesting regular. After speaking with some of the staff, it became apparent that English was not their primary language, so our notes may not have been understood. Certainly we could have gone to the front desk if it really bothered us, but it didn't. EVERY staff member we happened across welcomed us to their resort and asked us to enjoy our stay. The pools were very nice, complete with hot tubs. There were always plenty of towels available, even for a late night swim after returning from the park. I read on this site about the construction going on behind the resort, but it was never a problem for us. In fact, it was a bonus because we enjoyed some beautiful sunsets from the screened porch. The picture is blurry because of the screen, but you'll get the idea. We attended the required presentation, which was done very well by Sean. It felt somewhat like a car dealership, but not too much pressure. I wish we had this information 10 years ago, as Hilton's point system is far superior to the traditional time-share week system. If gas and heating oil prices weren't looming this winter...(we live in the Northeast)...we would have jumped onboard. Don't say no if they give you a call...well worth the trip!
