we stayed there before when it was the Grosvenor, and though the new changes are impeccable as to the pool area, the rooms remain the same. Overall, it was enjoyable.
Pro's : Jill the fun director is bubbly beyond belief, answering questions, entertaining kids from early morning bus waiting area to late afternoon explorations and adventures. She also went out of her way to solve a few issues we had without hesitation.
Brian and Grant are your perfect "hospitality" bartenders, real NOT phony people who actually make eye contact and converse with you on a personal level.
The front desk staff, for the most part, are accessible, polite and accommodating.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, yet housekeeping is a slight issue.
Con's :
For god sake update your website. we booked our trip on what we knew of the Grosvenor, and impressed by the changes outlined in the website...BUT.......found it to be misleading and deceptive
The restaurant is only open for breakfast and if and when the mood hits, occasionally for dinner (Fri, Sat nights) For room service, BEWARE the automatic added 18% gratuity you are NOT informed is on your bill. You either walk to downtown, or to the local strip mall for dinner, the latter being the best choice with Friday's, olive garden etc.
Moriarty's, a "pub" like atmosphere where you could relax (with your kids) play pool or darts is non-existent, the game room (the "new game room" ) is locked up and closed for renovation, again. The new weight room is nice enough, but not well monitored (weight benches are for work outs, NOT baby changing tables)
As with any resort area, things are expensive, but the "convenience" store was outrageous. In the strip mall is a grocery store, so our fridge was "stocked".
My biggest pet peeve was the random local pizza places who would send their people to the hotel at ALL ours trying to "jimmy" their flyer's THROUGH the door jams (not under the door). At 10:PM it's a little upsetting to have a stranger trying to wedge something just above the door lock on your door. The front desk found it amusing I chased 2 away and when a third got mouthy with me, I threatened to protect my family AT ALL COST!
The resort informed me they have tried to control this and arrest these people for solicitation, but never press trespass charges due to "some guest may call these places and it would hurt the business if they were not allowed on the property, Hmmm ? illegal solicitation and trespass on top of what could be considered attempted breaking and entering, who wants their business anyway?. There were 4 other rooms on our floor who also found this to be problematic as well as other guests complaining about it.
For what we used the room for I would say overall it was enjoyable, something other than room service on rainy nights would be welcome. The employees were accommodating and some (listed above) were outstanding. 5 stars to them !
Most likely we will stay there again, but I will call before hand and check on what is true on the website and what is fictitious
