My husband, myself and our 10-yr old daughter stayed at the Quality Inn at 7600 I'tl Drive from 01 to 08 March 2007.
Overall, we had zero complaints about the hotel - the location is great (right across the street from ABC Liquor: location! location! location!) ;-0 the shuttle service to/from Universal was fine, the grounds and our room were kept very clean, the staff was very friendly. (You need to get a ticket for the shuttle from guest services. They are free, but limited amounts, i.e. one morning we missed the 10:30 shuttle because it was sold out.)
The pool was very well maintained and very nice for swimming.
My only tiny criticism is the hotel's website description of the rooms as semi-suites ... seems to me to be a bit of a 6 dressed up as a 9 ... the rooms were standard size, 2 double beds, and contained a microwave & coffee maker on the same counter as the sink; but the small fridge was definitely a bonus!
One thing I hated, though - and this is likely a Quality Inn issue overall vs. just this location (and other hotels may do the same thing) - is that everytime you turned the TV on it defaulted to some stupid menu promoting the movie Borat and it got tiring after a while to turn on the TV to look for news/weather whatever and had to listen to hello! my name Borat! in a booming voice. Oddly enough, too, the TV did not display what channel we were watching, so when we finally found The Weather Channel we had a hard time finding it again .... a small matter, and we weren't in Orlando to watch TV!
The I-trolley is a great way to get around I Drive; it was well worth the wait to switch to the Green Line to go to the Orlando Ale House (close to the entrance to Universal). We had a phenomenal amount of food & liquor for $27! :-)
Cheers! Enjoy your Orlando vacation!
