Spent the week at the end of April 05 here and had a Nassau Suite, which was very spacious and pretty clean. Having just stayed at the Homewood Suites in Orlando it seemed a little tired in comparison as that was so pristine. The grounds are well kept, staff helpful and the pools were warm. We were towards the road end of what is a very long set of buildings, so a fair distance from the sea which was a shame but all the sea view rooms had been taken but I'd recommend going for the latter. The beach bar is small and not much going on there. Our block overlooked the back of the next hotel (Coral Reef which was partly closed yet the air conditioning unit noisily operated on and off). The concrete walkways can make it a bit noisy as the bedrooms were next to the walkway in our block and there were certain rooms I wouldn't have wanted to stay in so I'd recommend you check your room out before you unpack.
St Pete area was much more built up than I'd remembered from some 14 years prior but we found a nice restaurant almost opposite called Snappers which we enjoyed twice. Drove down to Sarasota (an hour south) which was much more upmarket and enjoyed wandering round St Petersburg too.
