Have stayed here a couple of times over the summer, and while usually I have great experiences at these hotels, this one wasn't as good. Both times I stayed the musty mildew odor was VERY prominent. It almost knocks you down and makes you sick when you walk in the room. Also the carpet is dirty and will get your socks/feet pretty filthy. It's a newer hotel though, and in a pretty good location right off I-75. I'll probably look for somewhere else to stay next time though.

The Country Inn and Suites in Sarasota, FL is a great place to stay. The rooms were comfortable with two beds, a mini fridge, and microwave. It either is a new hotel or was recently remodeled. The barthrooms are large and well equipped. The free breakfast is also well done. It features a waffle making station, yogurt, cereal, eggs, bacon, a variety of breads, fruit, coffee, juice, and milk.
My only complaint was that our room seemed slightly damp but I think that it was due to the humid Florida weather.

We did not have a musty odor in our room, but a slight urine smell when we first entered. It seemed to be less noticeable after we turned the A/C colder. I am thinking maybe the smells overall may be from the fact that they allow pets. They probably have to do a lot of cleaning up after them. We did see several dogs of all sizes while we were there.

The room was basically clean; however there was a kleenex
between the bed and bedside table when we arrrived and it was still there when we left. They could be a little more meticulous.

The breakfast was good, but the area is very crowded and noisy.

Just have to say I cincur with the previous poster exactly. The smell from within the room was awful, damp and musty. I presumed it was the air conditioner unit, which incidentally didn't work brilliantly well!!

However, that aside we had a brilliant 2 night stay. We booked directly with the hotel and they knocked $10 off the price I said we had been quoted on hotels.com. We got a huge room with 2 double beds for $79 per night, included was a breakfast and endless supply of fresh cookies and iced water in reception.

Pool was well tended and clean although, lacking in sun loungers.

All in all a great stay
