I made the mistake of requesting my vacation time off first before I picked a hotel. I would not have picked this place if I had planned better.
I read trip advisor before I picked this hotel and saw that some people said that the king bed gulf view balcony room on the ends of the halls had small rooms.... they are so true! I was limited on places to stay for times sake. I was hoping that we weren't going to get that room, but we did! Actually in those rooms on the back of the entry door there is a fire escape route and it shows the room sizes and ours was the weeny one on the end. That confirmed it for us to get another room. Not to mention the NON-INSULATED adjoining door that was in our room. The guy was coughing and I cant imagine what else we would hear if we had stayed. We changed rooms almost immediately.
The front desk was very polite and offered us a deluxe room city view (1 queen bed in a huuuuuge room with another adjoining door) & a regular 2 queen bed city view balcony room with NO adjoining door at all. The deluxe room was basically a handicap accessible room. We took the 2 queen room w/o an inner door. We heard nothing after that.
The breakfast buffet.... NOT FREE! $25 for 2 people! I did not realize that as well.
The hotel people was polite, but it was a very full hotel so their accommodations were limited. I would not go back for the price I paid for the room at all.
Other than that the location was perfect! We walked to St. Armands Circle everyday! It is only a couple of blocks! You can also rent bikes from Backyard bike shop for $10/day and they will lock your bikes up and leave the key w/ the hotel desk when you are ready to ride them and give the key to the desk when you are ready to turn them back in... no waiting around for the guy to pick up the bikes... very nice.
