“Charming but loud”

Park Plaza Hotel Winter Park

3 of 5 stars
Savannah, GA
Apr 7, 2008

This hotel was quaint and simple. The rooms were tiny compared to your modern hotel but the beds were comfortable and the bathroom facilities served their purpose. The porch looking over the park was a great place to sip your morning coffee (which was brought to the room with a muffin). The location however, was the best part about the hotel. You didn't have to find parking or walk more than a few feet in any direction to find food or a cute boutique. The hotel staff, especially the valet, were incredible. The hotel is so small, they recognize you immediately.

The only downfall, and it's a significant one, is the noise. The trains, which run behind the hotel are jarring in the middle of the night and they are usually fairly long. The whole room shakes when then go by and the whistle can wake the dead. Also, on a rowdy Saturday night we could clearly hear the patrons leaving the bars. We found that if you turned the air conditioner on, it drowned out the people outside. Nothing cound mask the train though!

I would suggest it for a fun night or two, but if you are staying longer than that the small rooms and loud trains would get uncomfortable.

“Noisy but Nice”

Park Plaza Hotel Winter Park

Mar 20, 2008

The best thing about this place is definitely location, location, location. The hotel is slightly faded and a little shabby but with such a prime site on the main street of such a chic little town it was hard to find too much to complain about. Just a little worried by the mousetrap behing the TV but the staff were helpful and friendly and the adjacent bar and restaurant were great and very busy with plenty of atmosphere. Soon got used to alarmingly loud and frequent railway trains running literally feet away but other local attractions, especially the Boat Trip and the Morse Museum were fantastic and great value. I would definitely come back here and spend longer than the 2 nights we stayed.

“I thought it was wonderful”

The hotel is old, but elegant. The bathrooms are very tiny, as is the sitting area. The bed is wonderful. The balcony overlooking Park is great. The service was great. It is different, but being right on the street was perfect. I'm a 5 starrer hotel person and this is not a luxurious room, but it fits with the whole experience of Winter Park. When we closed the balcony door, we heard NO noise from the street nor any trains during the night. They are very evident during the day, but it's nothing. Central Park is beautiful. The people in the shops could not be lovlier. I would recommend this hotel. And I would recommend Winter Park to anyone who can just drive there or take a day trip from Orlando (15 minute drive to a "whole different place"}

My stay at the Park Plaza Hotel was wonderful.
The rooms were delightful. The staff was very friendly and catered to you every need. I stayed in the front balcony suite which over looked Park Ave and the shops. all the shops and restaurants are in walking distance. I highly recommend you to stay here.

“not good”

Good: the bed was comfortable, sitting on the balcony and watching park ave at night was fun.

Bad: It was overpriced, the front desk was snobby, the bathroom was tiny, and the walls were paper-thin, so we heard every noise which kept us awake for hours.

The only thing good about this place is the location and the balcony. Everything else sucked.
