Fine hotel, but I don't know what the big deal is about. Everything looked nice and luxurious, but the rooms were pretty much like a business traveler hotel room anywhere. Nothing seemed bad, or outstanding.

Lack of a Lack of a restaurant is a big drag. No room service and totally sub-par breakfast buffet.

This was a fine hotel, but not anything to get all excited about.

Wonderful Hotel! We had a little trouble parking in the lot across the street but once we were in we were greeted by fabulous staff. As we walked in our room you could smell the oak on the door. It was great! Smallish room but made up for it in ceiling and bathroom size. Cleanest hotel in Iowa too! The bed was even comforatable! We took the elevator to the basement to check out the spa room. Large hot tub, no pool but we loved the steam room and sauna. More exercize equipment then in most gyms. They also provides fresh fruit in a basket down there. We never checked out the massage room but we never saw anyone there. I would not reccomend this hotel for small children (under 10) It is a very "classy" place. Anyone else I would give a all time high recommendation to staying in Des Moines. It is a little pricey but worth it. Also it is a safe neighborhood and the front desk will give you directions to about anywhere in Des Moines. We loved our experience at this hotel!

My wife and I stayed at the Suites of 800 Locust for the second time in March and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We ate at the Embassy Club at the top of 801 Grand which provided spectacular views but prefer the food at 801 Steak and Chop House. The staff is always accomodating and we love the fireplaces in the rooms. A definite must stay in downtown Des Moines.

My wife and I stayed in a Whirlpool Suite and found the accomodations fantastic. Be sure to visit the Spa area. The spa contains a wonderful gym, whirlpool and steam room.

Great place to stay. Would reccomend it any time.
