I chose this hotel because it was historic (i.e. not a newly built, generic hotel chain experience). My 1st impression of the room was that it reminded me of some of the places I've stayed in France. Smaller rooms, older building, basic place to sleep with some personality. The elevators in the lobby had a retro style too and I half expected to see an elevator operator ask me what floor I needed to get to. The lobby also included pay phones in stand-up booths which is a sight one rarely sees these days. It's places like this hotel that making traveling so fun and memorable. Years later, do people really remember any silly minor inconveniences (of which I had none) or do we remember the charm, uniqueness, and atmosphere of those unusual places? I'm glad I decided to give this place chance - no regrets about it.
