This hotel is very well located on a promenade walking distance from little shops and restaurants. The pool and fitness center are great for kids. The hotel is clean and everything works -- except there is no free in room internet service. The bathroom is very small, which is too bad. I would stay here again because it's easy.

My son and I went on a businees trip with my wife here. The staff is quite possibly the friendliest of any Starwood property we've stayed at. Upon check-in, my son was given a toy by the staff. The valet service was likewise superb. The best thing about this hotel for families is the pool (heated and very clean!) and the playground right outside the hotel. The location is also terrific with lots of dining and bar options right outside the hotel. If you're visiting Iowa City or driving through on I-80, this property is exceptional for business travelers and families alike.

The Sheraton Iowa City is nestled in the heart of downtown Iowa City. The location can not be beat in Iowa City, but what really makes this hotel special is the staff. They learn your name at check-in and continue to use it throughout your stay as though they have known you for years. I always feel so welcome as if I'm staying at a friends house. The hotel isn't the newest hotel in Iowa City, but it is certainly the most experienced when it comes to customer service!

Again, there are only a few good things that I can say about the Sheraton in Iowa City.
First is the location. The location is great and being downtown in Iowa City is a great plus.
The also have a great staff here. Professional and friendly, it was a pleasure to deal with them.
The hotel restaurant is also very good. We had dinner here one night, and we were very pleased with the service and the quality of the food.
This is where the good ends. Our room was in terrible shape. The carpet was worn, dirty and in places it was coming up. The furniture has seen better days.
Part of the headboard was broken off; the sofa in the room was so stained and dirty that we didn’t want to sit on it. The drapes were old and had holes in them. The room was also very dark, and even with all the lights on it was still dark. The bulbs were dim and one of the lamps didn’t work.
The bed was terrible. While the Sheraton website states they have the Sweet Sleeper bed, this isn’t the case. The sheets and other bedding were from the Sweet Sleeper, but the mattress was old and thin.
Very small bathrooms here. While it appears that they have spent some money on the bathrooms with new tile, mirror etc, they are cramped.
With its location and number of rooms, it would be great if they would spend some money to improve this place. At one time this was the only hotel in downtown Iowa City, but that is no longer the case. After spending on night here, we moved to the new Hotel Vetro which is located right around the corner. What a great place.
Until the Sheraton invests some money here, we will stick to the new Hotel Vetro.
