“Lexington Hospitality at it's best!”

Wonderful historic hotel in downtown Lexington. You don't want to miss this place. Best customer service, the minute we walked in the door! The rooms were classic and decorated to perfectly. The charm and character was just ooozing out of every corner.

The location of the hotel is also perfect. You can walk to downtown bars and restaurants and enjoy the nightlife. It is a quick hop and a jump from the University of Kentucky too.

There isn't one bad thing I can say about the hotel. Even with renovations going off the lobby it was the perfect place to stay!

“Very comfortable”

Spent a weekend there. Everything was very comfortable, though the queen room is a bit small. There are several good restaurants in easy walking distance.

“wretched”

Very old and pricey for what you get. Restaurant isn't affiliated w/ hotel so you have to deal w/them seperately if you want roomservice. They stop serving breakfast at 9:30 am. Several people in our group had issues with the hotel losing our reservations. No one at the hotel can recommend restaurants or other tourist attractions which obviously means they aren't properly trained. The rooms are old and outdated. We have a zenith tv in our room and were shocked to find it actually had a remote. One clue on their website to deter one from staying here was the bold quote "we offer cable tv". I was shocked they didn't brag about also offering air conditioning.

“Not as nice as we remembered...”

This was our second trip to the hotel and I have to admit, I was a little dissapointed. The hotel was shabbier than we remembered. The tempurpedic mattressed are really nice, but the room was kind of dirty and not well cared for. They little extras just weren't there like we remembered. Last time we visited, there were warm chocolate chip cookies and turn down service (which are still advertised) and were not there this time. The restaurant Jonathan at Gratz Park Inn was as good as ever though and I highly recommend it.

“Eh,......so, so.”

Gratz Park Inn

Jan 19, 2007

I was assigned a non smoking room when I called to make my reservation. However, when I arrived it was noted that I had requested a smoking room. A correction was made and I was given a non-smoking room.

The door knob to my room (#302) hung loosely from the door as if it were about to hit the floor. Unable to open the door and unable to find a house phone, I gathered up my bags and dragged myself downstairs to inquire about the door.

The clerk responded, “Oh yeah, there’s a trick to opening the door. I’ll show you.”

( Why not save us both time and aggravation and explain to me the “trick” to opening the door before I go up to the room?)

The room was clean and attractive enough with its four-post bed and high ceiling. Water pressure in the shower was restricted; the temperature fluctuated. No coffee maker in the room. The closet light didn’t work. The environment was fairly quiet although 302 was next to the elevator with its dinging bell.

The next morning I went down to pick up a breakfast voucher and was told breakfast ended 10 minutes ago. (That was about 9:05—which seemed fairly early for a hotel to stop serving breakfast.)

However, the front desk clerk momentarily left his desk to run downstairs and get me a cup of OJ to go. (Thank you, Eric.)

The entire hotel scene in Lexington is unremarkable. Rather than distinguishing itself, the Gratz Park Inn falls in with the rest.

The independently-owned Jonathan situated off the main lobby is a long-time favorite; their beef and chicken dishes having more appeal than their fish.

Room rate was 126.00 + 16.38 tax.
