Based on this vacationer's experience among the flowers should get a new gardener. Based on the reviews I had read I expected a fantastic evening out with great food, wine and friends. What my party was confronted with was anything but that. We show up for dinner, a party of three, and are told a "table just cleared up and should be ready momentarily while we ready it for service". Along comes a party of six and this throws the wait staff into commotion while my party now waits for 20 minutes while they figure out how to accomodate us all. All the while a table that will seat three sits empty. After asking what is now taking so long they offer their solution...to place two round tables meant for two together for us three to sit on either side of the wooden beam that sits in the middle of the restaurant. As there were two large parties getting ready to leave we asked why we could not simply have the table that has now been sitting empty for nearly 30 minutes since we arrived. We finally are seated and have to wait for our water and wine to come along with some bread which never arrived. During our interminable wait, a group of six couple with the 12 or so chilren who were on their way out talked loudly as the children ran in and out of the restaurant. Some were goofing around and chanting, "fight, fight, fight," two feet from out table. One of my friends was concerned she was going to be hit by one of the punches the child was throwing as his arms and legs were flailing next t her. Not one of the two wait staff said a word as the kids danced around the table yelled and were utterly obnoxious. Finally our drinks arrive along with my friend's clam chowder. It was the worst I have ever tasted; utterly overcooked, c mayonaisse-like, over seasoned and full of mashed potatoes. At this point we had enough and politely explained to the server that we were unsatisfied with the dining experience thus far and would like to pay for what we had an leave. At this point the waitress did not know what to do, so she went to ask the chef what should be done. Their solution was to take our seafood pasta dishes to go since we waited so long(about an hour at this point). The waitress then complained how the children have also been driving her crazy. She got no sympathy from us. We agree to leave money for the drinks and call it a night. This would pay for our three wines. They take the money of course, and still the waitress in inquiring was it the service the restaurant or the children, not realizing it was all of the above. People go out to eat for a pleasant experience and a restaurant should be able to provide that. As we are walking up the street we realize we are being followed by the chef completely innappropriate asking us why we left and if we wanted to come back and have the food to go for free. At that stage of the game we simply wanted to be able to eat a nice meal. I appreciated his efforts but this situation should never have happened to begin with. The wait staff and service subpar, the one dish we had was terrible. I was shocked to see all the great reviews given our experience. I personally will not be back.
