“Elegant luxury”

Spent a weekend in September in the Springlawn suite in the carriage house. We had a lovely little balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds and the pool (which was empty on this mid-Sept weekend). The nice touches abounded - a cozy sitting room with a throw to cuddle in, cheese/cracker platter, water bottles on arrival, an offer to park our car for us, Kiehl's toiletries, great magazine selection.
The spa is, indeed, quite cozy - the jacuzzi/small pool was wonderful and although we forgot to look for the Dove bars we did indulge in the cranberry/nut selection as well as the delivery of ice water right into the pool.
When we got back to the room after dinner it had the chocolate on the pillow but a few odds and ends were still strewn on the living room floor and the balcony was not tidied up.
We also stopped by the music room to have a cappucino (on the house) accompanied by petit fours and chocolates.
Continental breakfast was delivered prompty and beautifully but, despite our Do Not Disturb sign, we still got a bang on the door to have the tray cleared an hour later.
Overall, a wonderful experience with a few very minor glitches (then, again, the night was over $660 with all the taxes and gratuities)

“More luxurious than ever....”

With the addition of an elegant new spa, including a beautiful solarium with an indoor hot-tub (more like a small, tranquil pool), and a large new outdoor swimming pool, the Blantyre is more appealing than ever. We were initially disappointed to get only one night in the main house (the Toile room, with the alcove for the bed, is our favorite). But two nights in the carriage house were equally enjoyable, thanks to the new addition, which enabled us to pad down the hall in our robes, and lounge both indoors and out. And despite joining the fitness/spa craze, the Blantyre still keeps dove bars available in the fitness area for guests. The only downside is that it is hard to leave the property to enjoy all that the Berkshires has to offer.

“Blantyre - A Class Act”

Traveling up the road to Blantyre gave us a taste of what was to come. Myriad trees lined the road as a late afternoon sun bled through them -- a beautiful sight.
From the sincerely friendly and warm welcome (as opposed to those phony trained personnel ones) to the lovely accommodations in pristine settings, this place was a winner.
Each room reflects its own personality.
We were particularly impressed with the politeness and kindness of the front desk and the way they handled a particular problem we had.
The problem?
We are terribly sensitive to room sprays or, in this case, an orange furniture oil, and we actually could not remain in the room of our choice because the odor was abrasive. They promptly solved the problem by promptly preparing another room for us.
At check-out time they sent us on our way with a small gift bag of bottled water and cups.
Now THAT is class!

“Blantyre is the Best”

We spent our anniversary weekend at Blantyre. It was worth the 20 year wait! The staff was so warm and caring...the Ice House Suite where we stayed was like an exquisite home away from home with every imaginable luxury. We especially liked our romantic, candlelit dinners.

“Four Star Service & Excellent Food”

We would highly recommend the Blantyre for a romantic weekend. We stayed at Blantyre the last weekend of the 2003 season (late Oct/early Nov). The main house is tastefully decorated in period style and the common areas provide lots of comfortable places to relax. The grounds are very well-manicured and location feels very secluded even though you are minutes from downtown Lenox. The Windyside room in the carriage house was large with a private balcony but the furniture and decor looked a little tired and the bathroom was very cramped with cheap fixtures. Walking up a narrow circular staircase to the bed was not ideal since the bathroom was on the main level. I would recommend the rooms in the main house if you want more elegant furnishings but the carriage house rooms feel more private and in general are larger. The staff were friendly and helpful and we would give all of them four stars. When we called for a wine-opener, it seemed to arrive before we put the phone down. The food during breakfast and dinner were amazing and the wine list provided lots of great (& expensive) options. I would avoid the Potting Shed aka "small" exercise room unless you absolutely need to workout. There is a treadmill, stationary bike, stairmaster and some free weights but the temperature in the shed is comparable to outside and the space is tiny. Definitely skip the jacuzzi. The water never warmed above room temperature in the jacuzzi and the corner location provides a very uninspiring view of the gym equipment and mirrored wall. During warmer months the outdoor pool and tennis courts are better on campus acitivities.
