“Great spot off season”

Surfside Hotel & Suites

Arriving in provincetown in the dark and with nothing booked we stopped at the first sign saying vacancy.
Not much to look at in the dark from the car park we made our way into an nice clean well kept reception and were greated by firendy and helpful staff. As we were two couple looking to share to cut down cost we were given the option of a double twin room or a 2 bedroomed suite. We were allowed to take both sets of keys and vist the two rooms without escort so we could make our descision. The suite won it hands down and was very reasonably priced albeit off season. 2 good sized bedrooms, a nice living room dining area. Fully equiped kitchen and massive bathroom/utility room. And then.... out through the patio doors onto a large balcony strecthing both bedrooms (with their own patio doors) and the middle living room. We were right on the beach. Couldn't see much at night but were not dissapointed with the splendid view in the morning.

If you do go to provincetown, no matter where you stay, check out the whale watching! We went the first day of the season and saw 5 different types of whale. It was spectacular to see humpbacks surfacing next to the boat. An experience not to be missed.

“We always choose the Surfside !”

Surfside Hotel & Suites

This was our 6th consecutive year staying at the Surfside Hotel. We have always stayed on the oceanside rooms which we very much enjoy. Rooms are updated, comfortable, and quite relaxing. The ocean views are marvelous, and the waves at night soothing, great for sleeping.
The staff is very accomodating and whenever a request arises, it is promptly addressed. Elaine, Janice, Dave and the staff take great pride in the hotel and all of there guests. You genuinely get a welcoming feeling when staying at the Surfside
The pool area is always something we look forward to in the afternoon after a day in town or at the beach. Water temperature is refreshingly warm and feels great after the day in town. Add a cockail served poolside and the day is complete.
The grounds are kept quite clean with a lot of flora througout. This is a pet friendly hotel and over the years, we have never been distrurbed by any dog that has been at the hotel. A plus for the hotel is the adjacent Fanizis restaurant. The food is is quite good and the restaurant sits out on the edge of the water. Very nice.
Cannot wait for our 7th year at the Surfside. Keep up the great work at this wonderful property in Provincetown .

“Great Location but bathroom was dirty”

We booked this room during women's weekend in October.... Immediately upon arriving to our room, it smelled like a mixture of mustiness and old people. When i went to the bathroom, I spotted little short black hairs on the sink, the toilet, and in the bathtub. I was going to call the manager and complain about it, but I decided to just clean it myself. It was evident that the bathroom was not cleaned properly, or that the person cleaning the bathrooms should wear a hairnet. The breakfast buffet was pretty good - they offered homemade waffles and hard-boiled eggs. The location is good, it is a 15 minute walking distance to town. We had a great time, but I did not feel "clean" all the while that I was at the hotel.

“What you would expect from a 2 star”

Surfside Hotel & Suites

Sep 30, 2007

Yes what you would expect from a 2 star and I'm not complaining at all as I got an upgrade to a sea facing room which sealed the deal. Clean, comfortable and a nice stroll into town (although you would need to grab a taxi if you have to carry luggage). Provincetown - very colourful people everything and anything goes do your research before you visit. I can say that once you've seen the historical sights Pilgrim tower, walked around the art galleries and vibrant shops and coastline (make sure you take a trip on the dune tour sunset it fantastic and makes the trip worthwhile) you only need the 2 days at the most unless your into the "scene".

“Great Property, Bad Housekeeping”

My bf took me here for my birthday on a weekend, and instantly I loved the location and the view. There are two sides of the hotel-- the beach club, and then the main building which is not on the beach. We stayed at the beach club, with a gorgeous view of the ocean and Ptown harbor. The room was comfortable with a microwave and mini fridge. There is a market nearby where we bought champagne and put it in our fridge for later. Unfortunately, after we were done raving about how wonderful it was, my bf pulled back the sheets of the bed to find makeup on the pillow and hairs on the sheets. We figured it was just a mistake since we checked in early, and weren't upset about it. We nicely called down to the front desk and asked to have our sheets replaced. Instead of them saying, "yes, right away," we were told to "find the maid and tell her." We did, and proceeded to be yelled at by 2 of the staff who claimed that they "just changed the sheets," despite us pointing to the evidence. The maid refused to change the sheets so the housekeeping manager had to come up and do it, and instead of apologizing, she said that she was "the middle person" and didn't know what to think. Needless to say, when a customer requests new sheets, it should be done immediately, no questions asked, and having stayed at many fine resorts we were shocked that the staff reacted in such a way after seeing firsthand that there was makeup on our pillows. It definitely hurt the "birthday celebration" mood that I was in. After that I didn't want to leave my personal belongings in the room because the maid was so angry at us I thought she might come in and steal our things. Regardless of that, we ended up making the most of it and enjoyed the ocean view the following morning. My advice would be to stay here only if nothing else is available, and make sure to check your sheets thoroughly for cleanliness. If there is a problem, do not talk to the housekeeping staff, go directly to the hotel manager. It is unfortunate that such a beautiful property is tainted by its bad staff.
