We stayed at the BaySide Inn this July and had a wonderful time! The rooms were nicely decorated, clean and spacious. We rented a waterfront suite with a nice big deck overlooking all the boats passing. I have to say that's where we spent a great deal of our time; soaking up the sun and people watching. We also took advatage of the pool they have at a hotel across the river that is run by the same owners. We had a very nice breakfast every morning and the staff went above and beyond for us.

We have stayed in Saugatuck before at a few different places that were OK, but the BaySide Inn is a place we will come back to whenever we visit Saugatuck. We highly reccomend staying at the BaySide Inn.

“Relaxing, quiet, great location”

We stayed in Room Four for two nights and loved it! This was our first experience staying in somewhere other than a hotel. It took some getting used to the happy innkeeper since we prefer to be "anonymous" when traveling, but no one here was pushy and we were treated very respectfully. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the Kalamazoo and provided us with a nice, quiet spot. The room may have been small, but it was clean and served our purposes.

My only reason for not giving it an excellent rating is that during the day they pipe music into the back patio and rather loudly. Even with our windows shut and on the third floor, if you're not into Sinatra or Motown, it's difficult to take that power nap before dinner. But we will definitely be making this our place to stay in Saugatuck. It's within walking distance to everything and the ferry is two doors down.

“Great Location”

We just returned from a trip to Saugatuck, and we stayed at the Bayside Inn. It is bright and clean, and its location is unrivaled. Our room was on the third floor, and we had a wonderful view of the harbor. The inn is located within walking distance of the shopping area, and during the peak season (we stayed off-peak), it would be in the middle of all of the harbor activity. We loved it and would stay there again. The only minor fault--you are served a mediocre continental breakfast, but luckily there is a good breakfast place across the street (Ida Red's Cottage).

“Great location”

We stayed here for one night in late August, 2005. We stayed in room 5, which was the least expensive room. It was small and basic, though comfortable. I would say it needed a bit of updating, as some of the bathroom fixtures were old. It was very clean and all functioning, however. All rooms in the Inn have balconies. Ours faced the street side. It wasn't what I would call a great view, but it was a nice spot to have a glass of wine and people watch. Keep in mind, the balcony had no roof, so I imagine it would be uncomfortable to sit there in the heat of the summer.

The mattress on the bed wasn't terrible, but it really should have been replaced since it was a little too worn. Another minor annoyance was that there is one thermostat for the floor. When we were there, it was set so low that we were literally shivering. We did turn it up a bit, but we didn't want to take it too far and make our neighbors uncomfortable.

The Inn serves a rather basic continental breakfast, nothing inspiring. It was lovely to eat it outside on their patio on the river. I would have loved to have had one of the rooms facing the river...what a beautiful scene! The Inn is located near one end of the main street along the river, so it's in a great location to get to shops and restaurants. Saugatuck is a beautiful and interesting place to visit!

Overall, the Bayside Inn was a good place to stay, especially for the price. If it wasn't for it's location, I might classify it as an "average" pick, but I really think location was it's main selling point.

“A Wonderful Place To Stay”

We have stayed here a few times and find the the location to be unbeatable. You can walk to all of Saugatuck's attractions, plus you're right on the river.

The room we stay at is suite #9. It has a vaulted ceiling with skylights, a full kitchen, dining table, living room, gas fireplace, seperate bedroom and sliding doors that open to a huge deck right on the river.

A wonderful breakfast is served every morning in the guest center which also has a fireplace, TV and sofas. In the evening flavored coffee and home-made baked goods are served.

I love this place for the location, privacy and total relaxation.
