We stayed at Extended Stay America - KCI the night before an early morning flight. I booked thru Priceline, and was glad that I low-balled the price.

We checked in at 10 pm on a Saturday. I walked into the lobby about 20 seconds after the desk clerk had closed the shutters for the front desk - apparently to leave for the night. There were instructions to call an extension if no one was at the desk, which I did. Even though I could hear someone, nobody answered the phone to check me in. Finally, I caught the clerk as she was trying to sneak out the office door and she checked me in. Unfortunately, the room key she gave me did not work, and we almost couldn't get back in the motel with our bags.

The room was okay - a small kitchenette, desk, king bed, and recliner. The room did not have some items that I have come to expect in a motel - even a 1 or 2 star motel: a hairdryer, soap, and shampoo. Otherwise, we had no issues with our room or stay.

I'd probably stay at ESA again if I needed a bed the night before a flight - and I could get it cheap enough. I don't think I'd want to stay at this place for a very "extended" time, though.

Well, if you are a construction worker and need a cheap place with a fridge, I suppose its ok. I was in town for business and they place was loud, stuffy and not so friendly. Carpet was moldy smelling and kind of sticky. Room smell was stagnant, moldy and doused with some "freshener" spray that made it worse. I opeened the window, trying to get some frsh air, but then, all night, the sound of planes landing. Shower head was bad. Vending machine was in the laundry room only, not on the room floors. I do not reccomend it.

“Don't Drink the Coffee!!”

Extended StayAmerica Kansas City-Airport

Aug 15, 2007

One word--MOLD! Growing about 1/2 inch high in the in-room coffee pot. Ick! Noticed it the morning after our arrival, went down to the front desk at 7:05 am to tell them about it and no attendant was there yet! They are "supposed" to open at 7am. When we made our reservation, we asked for a crib/pack-in-play to be in our room and it was not when we arrived. So we had to wait to put our son to bed until a kind courier (Chris) ran to another hotel to borrow one...of which we were grateful. We did end up getting a "Be Our Guest" certificate after e-mailing back and forth to the manager of the hotel (Angela at that time) and our 2nd stay in August of 2007 was much better. We like the spaciousness of the rooms although they could be much, much cleaner.

“It's close to the airport, but that's about all.”

I had a one-night stay here for $38 (priceline.com) and I overpaid. This is your generic "studio" motel, I sure wouldn't want it to be an extended stay of any sort. Queen bed was OK but very cheesy sheets; 19" TV w/remote; recliner; kitchenette (full size refrigerator, 2-burner range, microwave, minimal dishes, no cookware, small tabletop w/2 chairs); bathroom clean but no shampoo provided, soap only, toilet flushing mechanism broke after first use. When I walked into room it must have been 95 degrees, and I'm not exaggerating. This is Kansas City in February, mind you. Their heating bill must be astronomical. Internet available I'm told. No food service on premises or even nearby. No ashtray in a smoking room. No desk clerk at night. No views. Nothing to recommend this place other than it's about 1/2 mile from the airport entrance and I-29/I-435.

“The worst night in a hotel of my life!”

The night we stayed there the entire floor above ours was having a party. There was loud music, and thumping on the floor all night. We called down to the front desk several times, and they refused to do anything about it. After checking out and driving to the airport, I realized I had forgotten my husbands ties. We called on the cell phone and the hotel manager told us he went up to the room, they were still in the room, and he would hold them at the front desk. When we got back to the hotel we got a huge run around about not being able to find the ties (less then one hour after calling), and they told us they would mail the ties to us. Six months later we have not recieved anything from them.
