We stayed at the Holiday Inn Great Falls in August 2006, for a one-night stopover on a USA Driving Holiday. Overall, we were pleased with certain aspects of this hotel, and not so impressed with other aspects.
We found the staff didn't care about the guest experience, and were very inexperienced. They were a bunch of girls in their early 20's, more concerned about gossip than the hotel itself. They couldn't answer any of our questions because they "didn't know". I understand that this is perfectly fine, and commonly found among chains such as Holiday Inn or Best Western.
We got a great rate for the night (only 99USD). However, this was for a reason. We were placed on the 2nd floor with a great room (bathroom outdated, but whatever). Just make sure you don't open the curtains. We had a view of the generator; however, overall I was impressed with the quality of the room.
The hotel is easy to find (you'll see it easily, up on a hill). There is a good restaurant on-site (overcharges a bit), and a pool/hot tub as well.
Overall we wouldn't return to Great Falls again. We've seen it and have no intentions of going back; however, the Holiday Inn is a good pick, only if you get it under 100USD for a standard room. Anything more than that and you are not getting enough for your money - go to the Fairfield down the road.
