no airconditioning with a squeeky very noisey fan overhead.....Like a steambath....maybe ok in the winter. I don't know....Food is OK and cheap. Casino full of house shills. Better places to go on the lake.

We have stayed at this property many times, often with our family. However, probably not again! Our reservation was not made as requested...had requested a ground floor room in the "cottages"....which is really just an old motel...but were booked into a 2nd floor room. The reservations supervisor was able to give us a ground floor room, but not in the location originally booked for. The "Cottages" previously were a bargain, but now are overpriced. In the middle of the night (a Thursday) , the neighbors had guests arrive and kept us awake for a couple of hours. Walls are very thin and floors creak...so don't plan on getting a restful night's sleep! There was very little lighting outside, so a walk to the casino was very dark.

ServiceLast year we stayed at the Tahoe Biltmore for an overnight stay during the ski season and ran into an issue regarding our stay. After calmly complaining to the manager, she took care of it.
I thought last year's experience was a fluke and decided to try them again. I booked their ski package, which included lift tickets to your choice of ski resorts in the area.
When we arrived, they gave us (2 adults/2 kids) a suite; one king bed and a sofa bed. Everything seemed fine until it was time for dinner.
We went downstairs to their cafe. After waiting 10 minutes to be seated, we waited another 20 minutes for a waiter. No one came even after we flagged two bus boys and complained to the hostess. We left - it was the worst service I've ever experienced.
We jumped into our car and found a local restaurant in Kings Beach. When we arrived back at our hotel, the room was shaking and the windows vibrating from a rock concert that was playing directly below our hotel room.
My husband complained to the front desk and they apologized, but said there was nothing they could do and the music would stop at 11:30pm.
Shortly after, I went to the front desk and complained again and asked to see a manager. The woman at the front desk informed me that the manager wouldn't be in until the next morning (10 am). I asked to see who was in charge and after giving me the run around, a manager appeared not knowing that I was looking for her. I explained our situation and she found another room, one floor above ours and we took it. It was slightly better, but you could still hear the music and the room and windows still shook.
By 11:30pm we expected the music to stop, but it continued until 12:30 am. The kids were so tired that they fell asleep with the music. We woke up the next morning extremely tired, but thankful that we were leaving. Upon check out, I returned their "FREE" breakfast coupon at their cafe.
I was grateful that the manager did her best to help me, but I will never use this hotel again. I gave them a second chance and we were thoroughly disappointed.

ServiceI stayed 2 nights mid-week in a "cottage" room (actually a dilapidated 4-plex as described earlier). Two positives: the staff were professional and competent and the neighbors through the paper-thin walls were quiet. Though quiet, I could still hear them tossing, turning and coughing in the night. The deal breaker was the heater (only two setting: full-force heat or off, no thermostat). There is no source of heat for the bathroom. When I arrived late at night I was cold, so I turned on the heater and fell asleep. I woke up two hours later drench in sweat and parched from the high, dry air, so I turned off the heater. Two hours later I woke up shivering (no insulation, wind whipping through thin walls). So I turned the heat back on. Two hours later, I awoke in a lather of sweat. Not a restful night sleep before a day of skiing. The next night I slept in thermal underwear and a wool hat as though camping with the heat off.
I stayed at the Biltmore for several days during the first week of January while my family and I skiied at Diamond Peak and Alpine Meadows.
We had two rooms. The one, which I occupied on the fourth floor, was quite charming and had a lake view. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was fine. Unfortunately, the heat did make some clanging noise during one night. Remembering the price of the room, I didn't consider this a great inconvenience--especially since the noise may have lasted around ten minutes.
We enjoyed breakfasts at the Cafe Biltmore. You receive breakfast coupons when you check-in. Smoking is no longer permitted in the restaurants, and this change has improved the air throughout the Biltmore (the casino, the hallways, etc.). I had stayed at the Biltmore previously, and the improvement is quite obvious.
Dinner at the Cafe Biltmore is "Denny's-que". I wouldn't recommend it. However, I would be remiss if I didn't discuss the other on-site eatery, Conrad's. What a wonderful experience! The Beef Wellington is superb. Good wine and a full-bar. If you arrive before 6 pm, you receive a 2 for 1 discount on one entree.
