“Nothing special ... but good if you have kids”

The rooms at this hotel were large and clean but fairly average. Service at the on-site restaurants was very slow. There are many other dining options within walking distance, which was nice.

If you are looking for Vegas excitement, this is not the place for you. That said, Sunset Station worked well for my family. We were attending a family event in Henderson and the location was perfect for us. My kids enjoyed the bowling alley and the pool, and Hoover Dam was an easy 25 minute drive away.

“Outstanding Hotel”

Sunset Station

I can not say enough good things about this hotel. I stayed 2 nights here in June to avoid the high prices of the Vegas strip and to use the hotel as a starting point for sightseeing. This place was fabulous. It was easy to get to from the airport. The room sparkled like new and was extremely comfortable.

I didn't get to spend a lot of time in the casino but the little time I did spend was great. It is a very nice, comfortable casino with a lot of variety on the slot machines. I didn't play the table games but they did not seem to be overly crowded and everyone seemed to be having fun. Nice bingo room too.

They had a wide variety of restaurants and the pool was very nice. It had a shallow end for wading and was good for kids. They had a deeper end that has an infinity edge on one side.

This is a great place to stay especially if you want to avoid the hectic crowds of the strip.

“Clean, comfortable stay”

Sunset Station

4 of 5 stars
Columbus, OH
May 31, 2008

We just finished spending eight nights at the Sunset Station. The employees were all very friendly and really helped if we had a question. The rooms and casino are very, very clean. Overall, a good stay.

Even though it is 10-15 minutes from strip, the hotel is really easy to access.

“Weekend at Sunset”

Sunset Station

4 of 5 stars
Norfolk England

We stayed at Sunset Station over the first weekend of May. The weather was good and the pool was open, which I was worried about as others on here have said it's usually closed. The pool area was very nice but there were more people than loungers yet from our room we could see more stacked up at the back. There was grass to lay on though. The room was good and was nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom was fine but the only complaint was the shower. It would not keep a constant temperature. We gambled a little on the tables and slots and came away with more than we started with, so thats fine! Getting to the strip is easy if you want to go there, only a short drive down the freeway, most likely taking less time than driving the strip itself. If you want to stay off strip, this hotel is a good one and good value.

“It is what it is.”

Sunset Station

I have stayed in a lot of hotels in Vegas over the last 35 years, so I do have a reference. I actually lived 3 miles from Sunset Station when it was being built, but I never set foot in there.

Last weekend was my annual golf trip and we switched from the Golden Nugget to the SS for ease of transporation to golf and good rates. I read the previous reviews, so I knew this wouldn't be Ballagio...and it doesn't try to be.

The best part of this hotel is the staff. I must say that without exception, they were all very friendly and accomodating. Dealers...front...valet...all top marks for customer service.

The room was fine. The sheets were clean and the bathroom curtain was new. It wasn't trying to be a 5 star resort, nor did I expect it. We found the food was just fine. Our going away dinner for 11 at the Cellar was excellent and far less expensive than other steak houses we have done that at. No complaints from anyone about that meal.

The only real complaint I had was the smoke. It seemed like everyone smoked everywhere, every moment they could! The ceilings were not very high, so it was a little rough, even for seasoned casino goers like me.

All in all it was just fine for what we needed...a place to sleep, change clothes, and have some fun.
