“The Blue Moon. Is OK, but...”

Blue Moon Resort for Gay Men

Mar 8, 2008
2/5 found this review helpful

To be succinct (because the place doesn't really warrant anything else) the place is OK, but well off the strip and, as others have written, in an industrial area of Vegas. The Blue Moon is laid out in the same mode as it was when a Travelodge, and with that, is not worth the price. The continental breakfasts are nothing special, and in fact, sometimes non existant. One day, there was not a drop of coffee, nor orange juice, nor milk. The muffins and other pastries are kept in large glass jars with lids, and they are there until they are gone... regardless of how long they are in the jars. Jelly packages are there, but they are so old, it's like dried rubber cement. But... not a big deal, I guess. You don't come here to eat.

The rooms are clean enough, the staff is friendly enough, and the amenities (video room/steam room/spa/pool) are adequate. Nothing to write home about... but then again, not many men write home about visiting a "gay resort." Having said that, the place really isn't much of a resort. Just a gay motel. I've been here... done it... no need to return. Not memorable at all. May as well stay at a Travelodge.

“Not what I would call a resort...”

Blue Moon Resort for Gay Men

I was excited to stay at this hotel from the way it was promoted on the web site...but...the resort (would question why it has the title of resort) is in a very industrial part of Las Vegas and a good $20 everytime you want to head to the strip. The rooms are decent but be careful of the bed frames. The corners are sharp and you will leave with a ton of bruises. Definitely not worth the rate you are charged and the staff are more commonly outside the front door smoking rather than looking after guests.

“Very clean and makes you feel like home”

Had a wonderful stay with the Bluemoon.

John and his wonderful staff is very easy to work with. Arrived early in the morning and they did best to accomodate us and made us feel welcome.

Have a nice cont breakfast. The pool is wonderful along with the whirlpool. It was nice tempature for February outside.

Rooms were clean and well supplied. Very nice beds, best that I have experienced in hotel. Also liked that parking is close to hotel and don't need to worry about parking ramps.

This will be my first choice for consideration in the future.

Thanks again John

“Blue Moon Resort - A Bang for the Buck”

Blue Moon Resort for Gay Men

The Blue Moon Resort. Where do I begin?

First off, It's a welcomed escape from the typical, highly overrated hotels on (or off) the Vegas strip.

Arriving on my birthday, I was greeted by the host with a pleasant smile a warm and welcoming demeanor. He was very knowledgeable of the area, and eager to assist with helping me navigate my way around the city - unlike the often pretentious, snooty, uptight attitudes commonly associated with gay establishments. I knew this was going to be a GREAT weekend.

The rooms (at least the one I selected at poolside) were masculine and very tastefully designed - without gaudy, frilly overstatement. The mechanics, i.e. TV, hot water, shower pressure all worked properly. An array of toiletries was provided. The oversized bed was freshly made, and oh, so, comfortable.

The pool and deck is spacious, clean and well maintained. The pool-deck was punctuated with lots of attractive men in scanty swim wear. Outdoor towel service proved a nice touch. The deck chairs, however, left a little to be desired; I would have enjoyed chairs with cup holders. Minor detail.

Complimentary continental breakfast and fresh fruit served daily - a nice pick-me-up during the day. Limited Internet service, so you might want to bring your laptop.

There is a steam room on the premises, though I didn't get to visit.

Overall, I would recommend this resort if you want a genuinely pleasant experience. It's a real value compared to the highly over-rated hotels I’ve visited. Again, I cannot emphasize how accommodating the genuinely nice the hosts are.

The Sunday BBQs are a hoot!

“Love the Blue Moon Resort in Vegas!”

Blue Moon Resort for Gay Men

While the Blue Moon Resort is a bit away from the famed Las Vegas strip (and all its monster hotels and crowds!), it more than makes up for in hospitality, comfort and fun for the gay man traveller. This was my second visit to the Resort, the first time being just after they opened 5 years ago. The owner (John, who is a adorable and a sweetheart), have made some excellent uprades to the guest rooms - very nice decor, and lots of amenities - toothpaste, lotions, gum, face scrub, etc... They give you a lot more than you receive at a standard hotel. They've also made improvements to the steam room and video room, lest you forget you're staying at a property designed specifically for gay men! They've created a very laid back, comfortable and fun environment for gay men where you feel safe to just "be". I highly recommend a stay at Blue Moon; I'll be back.
