“Great accomodations!”

The property and rooms are clean and comfortable. Swimming Pool was fantastic. Their Bread Pudding at the Buffet was to die for...and they share the recipe with you. We were able to get in our room right away...even though our flight arrived before noon. Good downtown location....Freemont Street....needed refridgerator for husbands insulin and this was provided complimentary for medication. Courteous employees.

“Security appears to be lacking!”

Golden Nugget

Security is lacking at this hotel. Last night my husband had his pocket picked on the elevator while security was absent at the booth located at the elevators to the hotel rooms. While the rooms are okay, and the staff at the hotel appears to be very friendly, I would certainly say that security appears to be a bit lacking. I have stayed at many hotels on the strip, and some a good bit less desirable looking than the Golden Nugget, I have never been at a hotel that does not provide evening security at the elevators to the rooms. When I called the front desk and spoke to an assistant manager I was informed that they do provide 24 hour security; however, they do not always have security at the booth located at the elevators where patrons have to show their keys to access the hotel rooms. Generally we travel as a family, and I would caution anyone who feels security to be an issue to them to contact the management at this hotel first to make sure that the proper level of security is provided!!!

“Not What I expected”

Golden Nugget

Apr 11, 2008

Stayed at the Golden Nugget to celebrate my wedding anniversary. A lot of people warned me that the Nugget was not a nice hotel nor in a “nice part of Vegas”. They said it brought in a strange cliental. (that was not true). I enjoyed the Freemont Experience and would recommend everyone to see it at night (if you are not staying there.) Check in time was SLOW, took almost an hour. I had requested a Handicapped Accessible Room and was disappointed in the Bathroom. I had to call and request a shower chair (was suppose to be in the room when I got there). The shower head was mounted, so it was not very convenient to shower/rinse off (had to use the ice bucket) for anyone with disabilities. Room was clean (and hey all I did there was sleep and shower). Décor is outdated (but again, who cares). Casino was very Smokey (poor ventilation). The Spa was overpriced and the staff was snobby. Did not feel like I got my monies worth. Pool area was nice (the day I laid out was chilly, first “cold front” in ten years I was told). Watching the sharks was cool. Restaurant was just ok (meal was not worth the price), the buffet however was wonderful! Caught bus to go to the stripe. If you don’t mind being “away” from the “real” action I would recommend it.

“The Petite Suite sucks bad”

Golden Nugget

So we booked the Petite Suite for Sun and Mon night. We had to check in at 10 AM and it was great they had a room ready and we had an easy no wait check in at the VIP Lounge. We got to the room and while the room was nice. The Furniture was old and out of date. Like Motel 6. The TVs in our suite were tube TV's with old grubby remotes. We did notice the other non suite rooms had nice new flat screens. The bathroom was a joke. yuk!!!! grime dripping from the shower doors. stains and what looked like dried blood on the floor. Toilet paper was hanging from the guest before us. Wet and stained towels. The bottled water for $4 were cracked open and half drank. I would recommend to stay in the lower price room as they looked real nice. Our suite sucked. The room service people did not come replace towels or clean up as they had said they would.

The hotel was great just read the other reviews. MID ($5) limit video poker machines were on lock down. Not even a pair of Js or better after 300 in? Poker room was great. I might come back if I'm on a budget. Did win a hi hand jackpot in the poker room so I will play there again.

We do not have such room type at this hotel. Also question cleanliness issues and why this would not have be brought up with Mgt.

“OK on a cheap rate”

Golden Nugget

2 nights over Easter weekend. Arrived at 6pm Saturday and guess what, no king non-smoking rooms available. Never understand why hotels like these can't keep there word on bookings- we booked 4 months in advance and said we would be arriving in the evening, paying quite a bit for what is only a downtown hotel however they try to dress it up. To be fair we were offered a move the next day but thats even more hassle as we were out the whole day.

Hotel decor is too fussy for me, but I suppose that is Vegas. Pool that was talked about so much on website was very small, no chance of actually swimming- Vegas again! Maybe hotel layout will work better when the new wing is complete, but may make it a bit too crowded in the central corridors.

Food is probably the best you will get Downtown but also the most expensive- not a problem if youre coming from Europe though due to exchange rate. $4.99 hot dog far better than the $1 ones you get everywhere else.

Overall probably worth it in midweek when its under $100 but if youre a non-gambler avoid the crowded and expensive weekends.
