My sister and I stayed at the Tropicana in July 2008 because of the location and great pool! We had five kids with us ranging in age from seven to seventeen. Check in was swift and the front desk was very helpful. We stayed in the standard garden room which definitely needs an over haul but it was a place to sleep. Our room was on the ground floor so parking was great because we could just hop over the balcony to the vehicle. The pool was only open until 7 pm at night which we weren't happy about. We like to be out all day and relaxing at night by the pool but on Mondays they have a pool party and then the pool is open until 11 pm. We had a great time at the pool party!!!! We are not big gamblers at all but by signing up for their players card and putting about $ 50.00 each in the slots we recieved 4 free tickets to Dirk Arthurs Extreme Magic Show -which the kids Loved!!!- and 4 free tickets to Foles Berege Show-which was wonderful!!-. While we were at the magic show we met a very nice couple who also gave us their four comped tickets to Foles so we could bring the kids. We found all the people that worked there to be very willing to help us out with what we needed. We were never in need of a drink in the casino-the waitresses were great! We found the atmosphere of the Tropicana to be very upbeat and a lot of fun even though the rooms sure need updating!!!

“Has gone downhill badly.”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

I had writen this entire HUGE review only to lose it, so your getting edited version now.
I used to love this hotel but its gotten REALLY bad.
Have stayed at the Trop several times, it has steadily gotten worse & the last trip very well is probably my last.
island rooms stunk, & we were told by a manager who was back there that they were not taking care of it anymore since its slated for Demolition. No ice machines on some floors, was stinky, moldy & just gross. Compared to my 1st stay which I stayed back there which was fabulous only 3 years before.
We moved to the front tower & the room was ok, not fabulous. Hard to get elevators there as everyone seemed to be staying in that tower.
I have stayed in all the styles of rooms at least ONCE. the garden ones were disgustion & for the $10 upgrade I would stay in island first, the front tower I was ok with but its older & basically the entire place needs to be dozed. Its old & dirty, the casino is old & cobwebs & stains on the ceiling BUT its actually quieter & more manageable than some of the larger ones. I felt more homey to me. THe machines dont change much except they finally put in ticket payers.
THe food there SUCKS. the buffet is nasty & gross especially breakfast. I only eat if its free. THe deli I have never eaten in & the steak house was horrid, my friends went there for a good meal with her comps she earned while staying with me, the waiter was rude & the food was horrible, they said they would never eat there again & they only went because she had over $50 in comps to use, the hotel was supposed to put it on my room charges & heck I hardly had any, so all our comps were wasted because I wasnt able to use mine either since it all goes to the room. As a gold member I think it could have been taken care of differently. I called to ask about comp suite for my next trip to be told it would be $250 a nite. forget it. I am not going to PAY them for thier crappy rooms on top of all the $$ I spend there. the rewards program stinks. Now i was told by a friend who lives out there they found E coli in the water system of the front tower. NO way am I going back until this place is rebuilt.

“Excellent Customer Sercvice”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

This was mine and my girl's first time in Las Vegas...together. We had both been there before so we had some idea on what to expect as far as the people, the lights, the noise, the traffic...the city in general. We were determined to have a good time, being that we're both in the travel industry and rarely travel ourselves.

We arrived a little after dusk. The parking was okay. It was actually a bit of a walk if you don't park up front and use the valets, but not too bad. Check in was swift and friendly, and we were directed toward our room. Here's were things got weird!

Our room was a Garden Standard on the third floor and there were beer bottles and martini glasses on the desk...not good. We called immediately down stairs to have them come clean the room, which was okay since we were planning on going out to the strip and looking around on foot. We were gone about two hours, and upon our arrival, everything was shiny new like it never happened. We figured no harm no foul and went to sleep on the very comfortable, very large bed. The next morning we got up, had breakfast, and got back to the room around noon to sleep off my six omelettes! I soon realized that there was no AC in this room. The sun was being reflected right through our window and we felt like we were cooking. After the AC control switch had been turned all the way down for an hour before we call to inquire. We were told that the hotel doesn't activate its AC until June 1st. Again, my girl came through on this one, HUGE!

My girl, who is a customer service genius, immediately asked to speak to someone. She threatened to take our business down the road if something was done. Within 20 minutes, we were packed and on our way to the front desk where we were shown to the Island Tower. This is the room we should have gotten. This room did have AC, and much much more. It was very clean, huge bed...with mirrors all around and on the ceiling! The most awesome bathroom I've ever had in a hotel, with a tub big enough for the two of us to sit down and stretch out completely. The view wasn't much, but had we been on the other side, there are great views to be had. There was even a little shopping boulevard on the way to the tower area from the casino floor. The vendors there weren't very pushy and very polite. This room made our trip so perfect we were ready to stay another night.

The thing that brought everything together was the customer service at the Tropicana. People there were more than willing to help make up for the mistakes beyond their control. Service was friendly and always prompt. I would definitely stay there again, but this time I'll get the Island Tower to start!

“Tropicana old school but still great for the money.”

I chose this property due to it's price and location on the Las vegas strip. The rooms were clean needs some renovations. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It was an excellent value. The pool is great and loved the music and pool scene. I heard they are going to renovate. This hotel is alittle old school, but I love it. There are only a few hotels left with the look of Vegas back in the day. I enjoyed my stay and for the money, I could not complain one bit. If you want better then spend the big bucks at the other hotels. If you want a place for location and value the Trop is it.

“Tropicana The Terrific”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

Jul 8, 2008

We were booked in to the Tropicana, for the New year break 2008. We were surprised to find a great Hotel right in the heart of the strip.

We found the staff most helpful, even to the point of going out of their way to assist us (heating a heat pack for an injured shoulder when asked for.)

The room was excellent, (seconed stay in vegas) great view,
clean room, fresh towels, spot on.
We knew it wasn't a five star resort, when we booked, but at the same time, it was really good value.

Seeing it was probably the busiest time of the year, I can say after traveling on a long haul from Aus. we had a great time at the Trop, and would stay there again.
