“Not the ritz, but really Not that bad: good for those on a budget”

I read some of the other reviews that were not great, and would like to chime in in support of the sahara. we stayed 3 nights (fri-sun) in the tangiers tower, 21st floor. the sahara is not for those seeking luxury. it's a basic, clean hotel though, perfectly decent, and a good value. the location is at the far northern end of the strip, but that's not a problem if you don't mind taking the monorail, which is fast, cheap and air conditioned. it's vegas... if you're like me (adventurous, 30, in vegas for a weekend with girlfriends) you probably won't spend that much time in your hotel room anyhow. there were only a couple minor issues with the room: the shower drained really slowly which is kind of gross, and the rooms don't have individual air conditioning controls, the controlller is on the wall but stuck permanently on HIgh Cool. but aside from that it was fine! the room was spacious and clean and had a great view of the stratosphere. the casino in sahara is great, the have the cheapest blackjack on the strip ($3). also the sunday champagne brunch buffet is a great value at $12 per person. the pool is great too. we had a great time at the sahara and i'm glad we didn't waste more money on a moe expensive room since this room was safe and clean and more than sufficient!

“Room with no A/C!”

Sahara Hotel & Casino

The temperature in Vegas was around 100 degrees when we checked into the Sahara. Upon entering our hotel room, we found that the A/C was not working, so I immediately returned to the front desk. I was told that there were no other rooms and that I just needed to check back "every four hours" to see if anything would become available. After checking back and being told again that there were no other rooms and that "no manager is available to talk to you", I checked out. I was informed by the hotel that I would still be charged for my stay because I chose to leave rather than wait for a move to a different room. I can't believe the Sahara would expect any guest to accept a room w/ no A/C during the summer in Vegas. I would have suffered heat stroke had I remained at the Sahara! The front desk staff was rude and obviously did not care at all about my predicament. This was my first and last experience with the Sahara!

“shocking, dirty”

I have stayed four times in Las Vegas in different hotels. This is by far the worse that we have stayed in! We stayed for a week in the sahara and we were forced to move rooms after dirt from the air conditioning ducts was fallin out all over the bathroom.
the rooms are generally dirty and in a poor state of repair. the casino is fine, and the monorail access is the only redeeming feature. However, for the same price i would reccomend either the Cicus Circus, New Frontier or the Imperial Palace over the Sahara. I would definately not stay there again. Next year my family are looking to come over to watch myself and my partner get married and i have suggested that they do not even consider staying at the sahara hotel.

“Sahara Doesn't Deserve the Bad Rap!”

Have stayed at many places in Vegas: Luxor, Excalibur, Trop, NY, PH, Mirage, TI, etc so know the scene. Had to book hotel because we bought house there for future use & needed to do walk through & sign papers. Checked out cheapest on Travelocity about 3 weeks before visit & booked nites of June 21 thru 24 & having read the reviews requested Tangiers Tower, highest floor, non smoking with good view. Guess what? Arrived about 4pm Thursday and check in was efficient & friendly. Started to repeat my requests & receptionist said they know! Got 25th floor Tangiers, no smoking (thus no reeking smell) & view of Wynns & TI. Room was clean, ac worked with no hassle (it was 109 on Friday) Sure it older hotel so some signs of wear (minor) but well worth what you pay! If you 1st time visitor go for one of the pricier mid strip hotels as it at far end of strip. Pool was good. Have read & seen on Sahara website where they charge extra $1 a day for local calls & $4 energy surcharge per day. But was not charged this & wasn't mentioned on check in. Maybe if you book on Sahara website it different. In fact brought laptop & Sahara staff very helpful on how to take advantage of free local calls to do access on dial up without having to pay $11.99 a day wireless fee. Buffet just standard & maybe good for breakdfast as you can always get a buck off per person with a coupon. Hey, if you want to feast go to Mandalay Bay Buffet, they are the best! All in all a good experience with Sahara

“Worst Service Ever, Very Disapointing”

Well after reading all the reviews of this place we decided to take a chance and keep our expectations low... Well, they were not low enough. We had reserved a suite three months before our visit beacuse we were celebrating a special occasion in Vegas. Upon our arrival they said I didn't reserve a suite. I said there must be some mistake. I requested very nicely that they fix the problem. The agent sent over her manager (Charles) who was rude from the get go. I shared with him my concern in which he replied that he could offer us a suite but for triple the price I had originally confirmed... I shared with him that I too worked in the Hotel/Restaurant industry and said that I would be fired for not honoring a guest request that was reasonable. His response was "sometimes with customer service you just have to say NO" He proceeded to say that "our reservation staff DON'T make mistakes and they never would have quoted you that!" Needless to say we made the most of our stay by spending our money elsewhere only using the Sahara to sleep. The Service everywhere else in the hotel was just as bad. I HIGHLY Recommend you stay Downtown if you are looking for a good deal. We got a 2 room suite the last night at Binyon's for half the price of our dumpy room at the Sahara and it was very nice. Trust Me Stay Somewhere Else, All the Reviews Are True!!!!!
