“Comp A Room”

Tropicana Express

When we travel to Laughlin, we usually end up staying at the Tropicana Express because we like the rooms. We have been receiving mail advertisements for free rooms, so we decided to call the property and take them up on the offer. The room was exactly what we had expected, however, what we didn't expect was a bed that looked as though someone had been napping on it, a shower and toilet that were not clean, amd loud noises until almost 3 in the morning! When we called to complain, the front staff acted as though they couldn't be bothered. I guess you get what you get when you are comped a room.

Do not eat at the Tropicana Exoress either. Had dinner at the Roundhouse Buffer ( 5/23 ) and it was the worst food I have ever tasted.

We will not stay here again.

“Not so good”

Tropicana Express

May 23, 2008

We contacted the hotel directly. Reservations guaranteed our room, a king, no smoking upgrade in the remodeled tower. We arrived mid afternoon and were greeted by a rude, angry desk clerk who said that our reservation ment only that we had secured any room in their hotel. She assigned us a double, smoking, regular room in the older tower. After much unpleasant dialogue we were told to wait on a bench for three hours until a manager could be located. The manager at last gave us the room we had reserved, however it was a great disappointment, not as advertised, not even close. The manager verified their hotel policy about no specific reservation for room type, saying it was their standard policy and that the reservation personnel had made a mistate. By the way, you must go to the lobby in the tower to purchase ($1.75-3.00) coffee each morning. I would never stay there again, there are many nicer places to stay ( as we soon found out ).

“New Ownership”

Tropicana Express

May 21, 2008

Been going to Laughlin for 16 years, this was the Ramada Express before the Trop bought it. Been there 3 times this year,
The food at buffet is sometime ok and sometimes not. the italian
cafe is a good deal.

They just took the coffe makers out of the rooms,
Very nice folks work there, friendly and the slots are mostly new.
Parking is free and never a problem clean rooms, crappy TVs.
plenty of things going on in the lounge and good drinks.

Nice pool and a train that goes around the property

“Simple, But Clean & Friendly...”

Tropicana Express

3 of 5 stars
Simi Valley, CA
May 20, 2008

I read many reviews of the hotels in Laughlin and picked the Tropicana Express even though it had mixed reviews.

I found this hotel to be just fine - I was only there overnight and the room was basic but clean, quiet and comfortable. The girl at the front desk, who happened to be a 'trainee' (per her badge) was so friendly and helpful. My sister and brother-in-law were also staying there and we had the Sunday brunch at the buffet which was just so-so. But, then again, it was free (we had comp coupons), so I won't complain!

I would stay here again without hesitation.
