My group of guys - 22 this year - went to Mesquite this year instead of Myrtle Beach specifically to play this course. (BTW - while you're in Mesquite, don't miss the Oasis Palmer course.) I cannot understand how anyone can play Wolf Creek and not walk away in total awe at not only the views, but what it must have taken to build this course. Beware - this course is not for the high handicapper or anyone with limited mobility. It can be extrememly difficult, particularly when the wind blows. Try to play it early in the morning to avoid the wind.
The course was in great shape, and the people were friendly and accomodating. Yes, the rounds took 5 1/2 + hours, but the pace did not seem exceptionally slow. Bring lots of balls and lots of patience and expect a high score!
My only criticism of the course is that they don't have a set of tees where the course plays 6100-6200 yards. You have to chose between 6500 and 5800 yards, and most of us MEN won't play a course under 6000 yards. Check your ego at the first tee and, unless you can drive the ball 250+ yards and keep it straight, play the 5800 yards tees!
This course is worth the trip, whether you stay in Mesquite or just drive there from Vegas. Compared to what it costs to stay and play in Vegas, this course is a bargain. Another plus to staying in Mesquite is the hotels and food are relatively inexpensive, and you can always find $5 table...
