No need to add to anything the previous reviewers have stated, because words do not really do much justice to the jaw dropping landscapes you will be provided with in playing this course. On a recent mega golf trip to the USA, I played WC in early June and expected it to be in so-so condition, especially as rounds at Lake Las Vegas were slightly disappointing (with exception of back 9 at The Falls - another triumph). I was most surprised and impressed at the WC course and the meandering network of creeks is certainly a nice touch which provides a bit of a relief from the heat. Yes, you will feel the desert conditions if you come in Summer (as I fully expected)! I hear Mesquite is developing as a golfing destination and why not with such beautiful surrounding landscapes and a non-Vegas feel to it.
Drink lots of water, lots of sunscreen, bring a digital camera (suggest learning to play one handed beforehand in order to ensure you finish your round on a timely basis - I took at least 50 photos) and make sure you don´t overcommit on the choice of tees. The starter informed me that John Daly had a very rough time when playing the back tees, mainly due to the tight landing areas and the local rules of not being able to chase your ball if it goes into the desert more than a clublength! I didn´t have time to go for a swim in the lake to see how many of his clubs ended up in there as well!!
The only exception to this is the downhill par 3, which I suggest having a go at from the Blue tees, even for the thrill of hitting downhill to a postage stamp sized green with a long iron and the wind going nuts from all directions!!
The staff here are unbelievably professional (I went to Palm Springs after this for a trip with some mates and the WC staff far surpass the staff at the PGA West complex) and make your stay very welcome. I forget his name but one of the guys actually retired up here after playing it once and lives at one of the first houses outside the front entrance - smart guy!
I´ll be back.
