“Brand-new and beautiful”

Comfort Inn &; Suites Goshen / Middletown

We recently stayed at this hotel for a weekend getaway to NY. The property is lovely, brand-new and well-maintained. Our room was on the ground floor, actually a wheelchair room, so I can say that the hotel is a good option for anyone who is handicapped, the room being very close to the lobby & breakfast area and the room easily maneuverable. The decor in general is lovely, and the beds quite comfortable. The breakfast was good, continental with cereal, various breads to toast (but they need a new toaster!), and a waffle machine, my personal favourite! Not many restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but a few minutes up the highway gives you a much better selection. It was slightly more that an hour into NYC, a comfortable drive. All in all a very positive experience.

“A Great Stay”

We drove to the Orange County area from Canada on a cold February night. We were so pleased to arrive at the Comfort Inn in Goshen!! We were greeted promptly and graciously. We were given a room with a king sized bed on the main floor. It was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. My son was happy to sit in the lobby by the fireplace and enjoyed his breakfast in the breakfast room, also by the fireplace. THe staff were all friendly and warm, especially to my two year old son. The breakfast was fresh and delicious with great variety.

We hope to stay again this fall. We will likely reserve early so we can stay here again. A welcome change form the HoJo in Middletown!!

“Less than a 1 star motel”

Comfort Inn &; Suites Goshen / Middletown

Let me first start by saying I grew up in the Orange County area and the only thing close was Middletown. When Goshen and Chester built brand new hotels it was a welcome change from the Middletown Motel. I found Comfort Inns on line by using Expedia, Travelocity and Hotels.com, the rate was $109.00 per night.

When my family and I came up to Goshen from Tampa, FL we stayed at the Hotel for 3 nights. The problems started at check in. There were two women at the desk and when I arrived neither said a word to me as I stood in front of them. It appeared they were both extremely busy. After a few uncomfortable moments I was finally greeted. I gave the usual ID and major credit card and they gave me a choice of 1st floor or 3rd. It has been my experience that staying on a high floor is better since you don't get the sounds of toilets flushing and showers running. My reservation showed a non smoking room.

The desk gave me room 347 and off we went to the "ONE" elevator in the hotel. As we arrived on the third floor I was greeted by a wave of cigarette smoke right off the elevator. I told my wife that this was not going to work. If you are as sensitive to cigarette stench as we are you can understand where I'm coming from. Out of curiosity I went to room 347 and checked to see if the smell was present, needless to say the non smoking room STANK!

We took all our stuff and make our way back to the front desk. When I arrived the two women were gone. I patiently waited for 5 min and still no clerk. I grabbed my cell phone and had to call the hotel just to get someone to the front. Finally someone arrived. This person was different from the first two so I had to explain the entire situation to her. She told me it would be no problem and she would send a maid to spray the room to kill the Oder. Well this justification to my problem was not the answer I was looking for. I explained spraying the room would not be acceptable. Her response was the hotel was sold out for the weekend and she only had one more room next to the kitchen. Outraged by this entire situation I told her I would inspect the room and get back to her with my decision.

The room was 121, right next to the kitchen as explained but it was fine. No smell at all and reasonably quiet. We took the room and unpacked. The kids got their swim suits and we headed for the outdoor pool. When we got to the door we were greeted by a sign taped to the door, " Sorry for the Inconvenience the pool is closed". The desk advised their filter broke and it would be weeks before they fixed it. We returned to the room and began to pack up. We were out of here!

During the packing we found a few interesting things, The maintenance man is the one who sets up the breakfast in the lobby, The soda machines were out of order on the lobby level and floors two and three were empty. Finally there were dead flowers under the bed in the room.

If you decide to stay at this hotel make sure it's not for 3 days. An overnight stay will be fine but don't expect ANYTHING from the staff. If you want extra pillows you will have to go get them yourself. Inspect your room and ask about the pool before you check in.

We ended up in Middletown at Courtyard by Marriott.
