Stayed in Finikias Place in greece while island hopping. Beautiful location a short walk from Oia, the room was lovely, the pool private and the food out of this world, the resturant is one of the best i've been to. Perfect place for couples for romantic break. I was traveling with my aunt and wished it was my significant other as the place was so romantic. the village is so amazing and what can i say about the sunset? I have never seen anything like it since!!!!! The cobbled streets, the little shops and of course the rush to find a place to watch the sunset all added to make this one of my favorite memories.

“Loved Finikias - best place to stay”

Finikia's Place

May 25, 2008

Not long been back long from a lovely holiday. Finikias Place certainly added to our enjoyment. Right location - not too far from the loveliest village in Santorini but with enough space around you not to feel too crowded. Not the caldera view but very nice all the same and only a few minutes walk to the volcano view anyway.Rooms and hotel charming and restaurant food very nice. Breakfast a bit boring after a week off the same thing every day but nice jam and fresh bread . Got talking to a few couples who stayed there at the same time as us and we all agreed there was nowhere that any of us had seen travelling around the island that we would rather have stayed Represented excellent value for money considering the price some people were paying for hotels in the area.

“Great Place”

Finikia's Place

Hi to you all,

I was checking on this site (trip advisor) for an Hotel in Santorini Greece saw the reviews of all the hotel and made my choice on Finikia Place. Because of the price and afriend of mine that had been more than once in Santorini said if you go on Santorini Island you have to stay in Oia it is the nicest town. And boy was he right, Oia is the nicest by far, although Fira seams very good as well.

The owner, speaks french, it was good for us because my boyfriend's english is not so great, The room was clean, big enough, the restaurant very good, we ate there 2 nights on our 3 night stay. Although breakfast included it was just ok. We did not want to spend to much on a hotel it cost us 70euros per night. We were 15 minutes walking distance from town center of Oia, but it was fine by us. There is always a bus that stops in front of the hotel if you don't want to walk that far. There is a market 5 minutes walk from the hotel if you wish to buy your own stuff. Also we discovered a very nice winery close to the hotel, downhill walk but worth it, very nice wine tasting although Santorini wines are most popular in the white. It was to cold when we stayed to enjoy the pool or to dine outside but we did manage to see from the hotel restaurant the beautiful sunsets, although if you have been to Hawaii the sunset is nothing compared to thoose...

Overall it is defenatly an hotel i would suggest and would go back if I had the chance to vacation again in Santorini.

PS: if you like to do some wine tasting you have to go to Santo wines the nicest view of Santorini is from there, breathtaking!

“Regular Visitor”

Finikia's Place

Apr 14, 2008

Have been four times to this hotel now, and about to go for fifth time in May. Always have had a terrific welcome and made to feel comfortable - nothing is too much trouble. We book direct by email, and they arrange a hire car for the week to meet us at the airport and for us to leave it there after the holiday.

Last year we took some friends along too - two of whom are chefs - and they raved about the food. Not only how good it was but also what good value. It is a pleasure to ditch the car after an evening in Oia, have a few drinks followed by a good meal, and not have to worry about driving home. Lots of locals eat there late in the evening when they close their shops which is always a good sign.

Some of the roads are interesting to say the least. We feel a car is essential as you can be all over the island in a short time, whereas all the buses go into and out of Fira making even a short journey a long one what with changing buses and waiting around.

Rooms are fairly basic, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Basically you get what you pay for - a small family owned and run hotel with an excellent restaurant (why eat elsewhere when this one is so good) - and a bit more. The owners and staff are very helpful and always willing to go the extra mile for good service.

Certainly having experienced other hotels, bars, and restaurants, this one offers great value for a good holiday base on a magical island that captivates you.

We found this hotel on-line and asked our travel agent to book our stay for us. When we arrived at the hotel, we were surprised to learn that we didn't have a reservation. It turned out that all the rooms had been booked for a solid month, and our travel agent booked us at a different hotel, but never bothered telling us. In any case, the owner of the hotel went above and beyond the call of duty to help us find another place to stay. When our cell phone died, she kindly let us use her personal cell phone, and when our taxi left us stranded, her father was generous enough to drive us to our hotel. I have never received such a warm welcome before, and I have never received such kind and generous hospitality. The family who owns this hotel are wonderful, wonderful people! -It is rare to find such kind and warm people these days, and we cannot thank them enough for the kindness they have showed us. So we didn't actually stay in this hotel, but if we were to ever return to santorini, we would definitely stay here. However, we did have dinner at this hotel, and it was probably one of the best meals we had during our trip.
