“Excellent choice for exploring”

Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte City Center

Stayed on Jan 19 and 20th while exploring the area. Car park accessible from hotel 10 per day unlimited in/out. On same street as main bars and rest. in the area - can walk to all the stadiums. THIS IS THE MAIN AREA for exploring and nightlife. The NODA area is "missing something" as in everything - or we missed it. I can understand there is a community theater and "arts" growth with galleries and small shops but there isn't anything there compared to Tryon street. I could be wrong but basically pick any hotel along Tryon and you will be fine. Paid 99 a night for a high floor. Whole hotel is non smoking and access to room floors is by your keycard only.
Try Harry and Jean's next door for great "Americana" food. Be warned, most chops are in the $30 range on Tryon and Martinis are in the $8-12 range all around Tryon- makes sense as there is no where else to go!

“Nice & Convenient”

Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte City Center

5 of 5 stars
Raleigh, NC
Jan 6, 2007

I stayed at this hotel in December, during a trip to see the Charlotte Symphony. I found it to be reasonably priced (includng the parking charge, which is less than other places I've stayed), and very convenient.

The hotel is on a main street, and walking distance from shops and entertainment (including the Blumenthal Center and Discovery Place). There are many restaurants nearby. The hotel provides a directory of places to eat, and in some cases even has discount cards. A much better alternative to room service if you like to see the city you're visiting!

The room was clean and quiet, and the bed was comfortable.

Staff was friendly and helpful. One word of advice - check your paperwork carefully. A couple of other posters here mentioned confusion over a complimentary breakfast, and I witnessed one guest having the same issue while I was checking out. There are free drinks available in the lobby (coffee and tea).

Would definitely stay there again - was very pleased overall.

“Decent Hotel in a Good Location”

Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte City Center

4 of 5 stars
Atlanta

This hotel is located on the edge of downtown Charlotte, easy walking distance to many decent places to eat, drink, work, or just enjoy the city. The hotel is actually located in only part of its building, so even the first floor of rooms is relatively high atop the city. This makes the rooms relatively quiet.
More good: The rooms are standard issue Courtyard, complete with the newer upgraded bedding. This, IMHO, is a good thing. My room was clean, everything was in working order, and my wake-up call was made on time. What more does one want from a hotel?
The bad: It is a major hike from where you park your car to where you crawl into bed. I didn't find it to be onerous, but for those with problems walking, it might be an issue. I got room service. Just a hamburger. I now have the answer to "Who can screw up a hamburger?" If I told you the hamburger was second-rate, I'd be making it sound better than it actually was. But on the plus side - at least I could order room service when I checked in hungry on a Sunday night and wanted to just stay in the room and watch Marcia Cross!
Bottom line: There are worse hotels. And as for the food, the hotel is in such a wonderful area, I should have ventured out and found a better place to eat.

“Pleasant hotel is great lcoation...”

Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte City Center

4 of 5 stars
Montclair, NJ
Aug 12, 2006

I was able to find a hotel in the center of town at a reasonable rate.
Positives:
Friendly staff
Large rooms
Clean
Comfortable and free wi-fi

Negatives:
Small lobby/bar so you will have to venture out for late night.
IF you stay over a weekend you will hear noise from surroundings parties in Uptown Charlotte. Not quiet Friday & Sat.
Construction across the street will keep noise levels durign the day.

Note - the hotel only has 3 floors but is located above the parking/adjacent office building so you are pretty high up even if you are on H3.

I didn't venture to breakfast or order room service so I'm unable to comment. Great stay and hopefully economical. If you want free parking I suggest you don't stay downtown.

“Extremely Disappointed”

Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte City Center

We checked into this hotel with high expectations assuming that since it was the Courtyard by Marriot. We arrived at the hotel only to find out we had to pay $10 a day for parking. We tried to relax in a luke warm jacuzzi and slept in uncomfortable beds. When we went down for breakfast on the first day there, we enjoyed a delightful little buffet only to find out that it was not a complimentary buffet and had to pay $8 for cereal and a cup of coffee. Then later that night we decided to check out the movies on tv; there were very few channels and they were actually charging $12.99 per movie; including those that had already been released on DVD.... with no option of ppv or anything. Overall we were unimpressed and for the money we spent for nothing... we will be sure to stay at the Omni next time.... that hotel I highly recommend.
