We recently visited Cleveland and stayed at the Downtown Residence Inn for 3 nights.
Pros: Location. Clean rooms and common areas. Free breakfast which was actually good and included make your own waffles.Spacious rooms with kitchen and dining area. No hallway noise. (We did have a lot of outside noise on a Friday night due to festivities in the parking lot across from our hotel.) Good water pressure in shower. Very friendly staff. Excellent manager who is responsive to customers' needs and readily available.
Cons: Old, dingy parking garage which was a little scary. (Although an attendant and security guard were present each time I was in the garage.) Construction was going on during our stay as described by another review. This was not mentioned on the Marriott Web site nor was I informed when I made the reservation. The construction has been completed according the manager. Therefore this should not be a problem on future visits.
Tiny bathroom! Huge room but the bathroom needed more space. It was difficult to close the door, and I am not a large person.
Overall, I would describe this as a well-managed hotel with clean, spacious rooms. It's a old building but it is maintained and appears to be recently renovated. It's a good choice for afforable lodging in downtown Cleveland. I was very impressed by the service provided by the manager. I will return to the hotel due to that experience alone.
