“Overall, a good stay”

Residence Inn Cleveland Downtown

We recently visited Cleveland and stayed at the Downtown Residence Inn for 3 nights.
Pros: Location. Clean rooms and common areas. Free breakfast which was actually good and included make your own waffles.Spacious rooms with kitchen and dining area. No hallway noise. (We did have a lot of outside noise on a Friday night due to festivities in the parking lot across from our hotel.) Good water pressure in shower. Very friendly staff. Excellent manager who is responsive to customers' needs and readily available.
Cons: Old, dingy parking garage which was a little scary. (Although an attendant and security guard were present each time I was in the garage.) Construction was going on during our stay as described by another review. This was not mentioned on the Marriott Web site nor was I informed when I made the reservation. The construction has been completed according the manager. Therefore this should not be a problem on future visits.
Tiny bathroom! Huge room but the bathroom needed more space. It was difficult to close the door, and I am not a large person.

Overall, I would describe this as a well-managed hotel with clean, spacious rooms. It's a old building but it is maintained and appears to be recently renovated. It's a good choice for afforable lodging in downtown Cleveland. I was very impressed by the service provided by the manager. I will return to the hotel due to that experience alone.

We stayed at the Residence Inn in downtown Cleveland on Saturday night, July 28. We've stayed here many times before and have been generally pleased with both its price and proximity to Jacobs Field for Indians games.

This time, however, we had a somewhat different surprise. We got our room assignment and room-card keys and then proceeded to our room. The door to the bedroom was mostly closed, and when I opened it, there was an unclothed couple in bed. He shouted "Hey," she shrieked, and we left the room and were told by the front desk that they had inadvertently assigned us to a room that was not available.

We got into a smaller studio suite and had a fairly uneventful stay for the remainder of our trip. Overall, 5 for the hotel, which we like a great deal, but 0 for the surprise that shouldn't have happened, results in an overall 3 for our stay.

“Overall a good stay at the Residence Inn Dowtown Cleveland.”

We just returned from a long weekend trip to Cleveland.
Overall, we had a good stay.
Here are the positives and negatives about the hotel and trip in general:

Positive:
Good location. A short walk to Jacobs Field. Close to Tower City Mall and the Hard Rock Cafe. Excellent buffet breakfast. The breakfast was well attended by staff. The staff overall were friendly and helpful. We used my spouse's Marriott points for our three night stay. The staff were very accomodating in finding a room big enough for the five of us. It was about a 15 minute walk to the Great Lakes Science Center and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The highlights of the trip were seeing the Indians play on Friday and Saturday nights. The Friday night fireworks display after the game was impressive. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should not be missed. Free daily newspaper. Nice public spaces inside the hotel.

Negative:
The outside of the hotel is all boarded up. There is utility work going on in front of the hotel so if you are looking for a hotel with an attractive exterior, you may want to look elsewhere or come after the utility work is done. Call ahead to find out if it is complete before booking. Parking was difficult when we got here as workers were blocking the entrance to the hotel parking lot. My wife said that the maid could have done a better job at restocking the supplies in the room. They did charge us an extra $17 a night for the rollaway bed. No pool.

Overall a good weekend in Cleveland. I would stay at the Residence Inn again after the utility work is done.

“wonderful stay”

This hotel is wonderful. The staff is friendly (I was greeted by every person I saw), helpful and accomodating. Our room was huge with plenty of room for 6 people. The hotel staff called our room twice while we were there. The first time was to make sure everything was ok with our room and the second time was to verify that we would be paying for 2 cars to park there overnight. As mentioned, the parking is a little tricky, but it is a downtown area. Our group enjoyed dinner at Flannery's Pub and drinks at The WInking Lizard. I highly recommend both and recommend this hotel. It is in a great location and is a wonderfully restored old hotel.

“Enjoyed my Stay”

Used my Marriott Reward Points to spend Saturday night here. Had a great stay. Staff was helpful and friendly and assisted with anything that I needed. Room was huge and it was nice having a full kitchen with an ice maker. The coolers downstairs accross from the front desk were a convenient touch too. Even though I used points for the room - the room was nice so no complaints. Was near the elevator but very little noise. Hotel is in an older area of downtown but it seems to be an area on the rebound. Plenty of activity around with the Indians playing at Jacobs Field so I felt as safe here. If there was no activity my perception would be different but that would be the case in most older downtown areas regardless of city. Of course, its the old architecture and the history of the area that gives the place its charm and and makes it a different experience from what you get at the cookie-cutter areas where everthing seems so staged. The hotel is in an older building but a great job was done with the renovation. My only complaint is with the parking - it is really tight but that is typical for downtown areas - would be nice though if they offered valet. Once I did park, there wasn't a need to move my car - Jacobs Field is a few blocks away and the arena is across the parking lot. Tower City is a few blocks away as well with its shops, movies, and restaurants including a Morton's and a Hard Rock Hotel. It's a short walk to the attractions around the area but the hotel does offer a shuttle service if needed. Defintely take the shuttle if going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Again, I enjoyed my stay and would certainly stay here again.
