“Very pleasantly surprised!!”

I recently moved to Oklahoma from Plano and when I was looking for hotels in the Dallas area, I noticed this really cool new hotel and was surprised that it wasn't downtown. I hadn't intended to stay this far north but since we weren't planning on going downtown at night, I decided to try it out. There is no other hotel like this anywhere near the area and it was SO affordable!!! My boyfriend and I stayed on a Saturday night and LOVED the fact that we didn't have to drive 20 minutes for a little nightlife. It was perfect.
P.S.....the short-rib tacos are delicious!

“A little too modern.”

The NYLO in Plano is in a great location on Preston Rd near the Stonebriar Centre, Frisco and the North Dallas Tollway. It is very modern with free wi-fi internet and a good size HDTV with HD channels. There are some opportunities I hope the hotel addresses:
- If you stay anywhere near the bar...don't expect to sleep until 2 am. This place is packed all night with what appears to be non-hotel guests.
- The bar also serves breakfast and started blasting music at 7 am. This would have not been a problem if I had not gotten to sleep until 2 am.
- The room was very clean, but lacks privacy. The bathroom has a sliding door, but does not have walls that go to the ceiling. EVERYTHING that goes on in the bathroom will be heard.
- The "business center" is actually one computer (a Mac, but uses Windows) that had printing capabilities, but the printer was out of toner.

Overall this is a very cool hotel with comfortable beds, if you are into the hip scene. I don't recommend this place to business travelers that need to get up before noon. While it was inexpensive, they charged nearly a $400 hold on my credit card for two nights. I thought that was a little much.

“Awesome!”

I have traveled extensively for business and pleasure over the last 25 years. This hotel is perhaps in my top 5 hotels of all time for its sheer comfort and uniqueness. The ambiance is warm and comforting after a long day on the road. The extra touches like 32 inch flat panel tvs were quite nice, and the rooms was like no other I have ever stayed in. It blows away the traditional hotel room with its design and comfort. The glass shower was really nice. But probably the best feature of all was the comfortable bed with its 5 oversized pillows. Free wirelees internet was a nice feature too. What a gem this place is in the middle of Plano! I hope they expand this brand to other cities.

“Nylo - Plano - Cool, Modern and Unique”

Nylo Plano at Legacy

I just completed a 2 night stay at the Nylo in Plano. I formally lived in Dallas so I know the city quite well. I was coming from New York and visiting with some friends and mainly to do some shopping as Dallas has some of the best shopping in the country believe it or not. I was on my way to Cancun for a vacation (staying at the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach as I type this).

I wanted something unique and did a bit of research and found the Nylo was new. I booked a suite with-in the hotel with the glass windows from floor to ceiling. It was a cool place. I checked in around 1 PM and was surprised to find the parking lot just about completely empty which surprised me. There were literally like 5 cars.

The lobby is very modern and the staff was friendly. I booked via Expedia and the rate with tax was about $280 per night for the suite. We had a lot of bags and no one offered to help with bags to the room. That was a disappointment.

We got in the room and it was very bright and modern. Very nice with VERY comfortable bed and pillows. A high end 42' LCD TV that jetted out from the wall. Very nice with HD quality. There was a sofa and a working desk with free wi-fi and plug in internet that worked VERY well and glitch free.

Something that I found surprising was the room didn't have a fridge in it. That surprised us. I read later you can call and they can bring one but after a long flight who wants to call down to put a small fridge in the room, especially considering it takes time to cool it so we didn't bother. I think they should put them in the room and have them ready. If you book, you might want to request ahead of time for them to put a fridge in the room.

The bathroom was modern with a rainfall from above shower. Very good pressure but they went cheap with the design. Water went all over the floor. No matter how careful you are with the shower curtain, water went ALL over the floor which was frustrating. Also, keep in mind it's an open top so there is no real privacy. You can hear everything going on in the bathroom which is ok if you are by yourself but just keep in mind if you are with someone else you can hear everything.

The room had nice black out curtains. Also, they must have LOTS of business travelers which accounts for no cars at around 1 PM. The other thing annoying is check-out is at 10 AM which is much earlier than most hotels around the USA/world. I found that annoying. It's almost more like booking an apartment vs. a hotel. We didn't try room service at all.

The area is far north Plano near Frisco which is nice if you want to do shopping at Stonebriar Mall which is a stone's throw away. A bit far up if you are doing any business in Dallas. I think most of the people are business travelers working in Plano.

All in all it's a nice place to stay. Price is a bit high for the quality, IMHO but I'd recommend it as it's modern and unique. I'm heading back to Dallas after Cancun and staying at the Za Za Hotel so I'll see how that is.

“funky, cool, a bit noisy”

Nylo Plano at Legacy

Feb 25, 2008

My husband and I just stayed at the NYLo for a one night getaway. The check-in/out staff were great--very friendly. We loved the environment/decor--very modern--you kind of feel like your in a new office building--but they inject great warm colors throughout---very NY loft like. The room is unique and trendy. It is smaller than some other chain hotels--but that's the point--it's loft-syle. The room was very clean and orderly. Beds/pillows very comfy.
We typically travel with our two young sons; however, this trip it was just the two of us----and we loved it for that purpose. However, I personally don't see this as a great place to stay for families with younger kids (I think older kids would like it). The restuarant/lounge area--was also a fun design. We paid the $10 more for breakfast to be included in our stay. It was okay (I would compare it to the Hampton's free breakast). We initially got charged $25 on top of the $10 we already paid for breakfast--but the check-out clerk--quickly fixed that for us. I most definitely would NOT pay $25 for this type of breakfast--Plano has several little fun cafes to eat breakfast at--that would not cost any more--and the food would be better. In fact, for any future stays--I won't even do the $10--I'll opt for eating elsewhere. The location is great--close to the mall, cafes/restuarants, other shops, etc. We went to the Studio Movie Grill--which is just about 8min away--down Preston. We were on the 3rd floor--and could hear the lounge music (the bass thud) from the 1st floor (note: and we were not directly over the lounge area--those rooms might even get more noisy)--I'm guessing that due to design--there is not a lot of absorbtion of sound--so be prepared for that---like I said it's fun environment--but perhaps not the most relaxing.
We will most definitely stay again--if our objective is fun getaway.
