Please note, this review is based on an experience from a year and a half ago. If this property hasn't been renovated since the end of September, I'd suggest going somewhere else. Supposedly the luxury suites are nice, but I have no experience with those.
We were visiting Price for a high school sports event and checked in late evening so maybe they had saved the worst for last because that's pretty much what we got. The room we were assigned is in a separate building behind the main building. I've never stayed in the main building, but as I walked around in the morning and looked, the rooms there didn't seem to be in any better shape than the one we had.
Briefly, I've stayed in lots of hotels over the years for business and personal trips, having spent over 100 nights in hotels in one particular calendar year. This hotel experience was probably the worst overall I've ever had, and I'm including closet-sized single rooms in Europe. At least they were clean.
Room stank, not smoke, but more mildew kind of odor. Carpet was stained. Desk clerk had told me the hotel was full or I'd have tried to move. Beds were uncomfortable and bathroom had mildew. Showerhead leaked, spraying the ceiling. About 2 in the morning, it got cold enough that I decided to turn the heater on, but within a minute I was back out of bed to to turn it off. The room had filled with a thin but acrid smoke from the heater. While this was probably the first real chilly night of the season, this heater smell wasn't dusty elements starting up for the first time in while (I grew up with electric heating) ; it was more along the lines of something electrical about to catch fire. We opened the window to try and get rid of the smoke because it was really choking and succeeded in clearing the room but also dropped the temperature another 10-15 degrees. It made for a very cold rest of the night.
The next morning I noticed that the trashcan still had trash in it from a previous guest only adding to my frustration with the property as I questioned how long it had been since anything was actually cleaned.
I spoke to the front desk person that morning and told them of the numerous problems. (It seems like there were more but as it's been over a year, I've only listed those I could specifically be sure of in the interest of fairness to the property) The desk clerk had nothing to say other than "sorry." I asked if she didn't think it was appropriate that my rate be reduced and she said she couldn't do that.
After returning home, I wrote a detailed email to the property and received an email apology from the owner who did credit money back to my card.
We have stayed in Price since then and had a good experience, but have not returned to the Greenwell. It could be a good place if they've made investment in fixing up the regular hotel rooms but if not, find something else.
